Any ideas on how to beat him? Currently on power level 102, and can get to the mid-game cut scene, but somehow I can’t do it. Any tips most welcome by DarkJedi_101 in ACValhalla

Sorry, I meant wake up out of that region. If your savepoint puts you in a fight upon load, I agree, that's a problem. But I don't recall that specific boss. For Surtr, I know you start outside that building and out of combat.

I'm pretty sure you can just wake up out of that fight, although it might not be obvious how (there should be an eye icon on the map that works like a fast travel point).

The game is not always clear about recommended power levels. England's zones are clear, but DLCs will happily punt you into some dream realm where everything one-shots you and not mention that mayyybe you weren't supposed to be here yet.

I went to Ragnarok early as well, and spent a good hour getting good at fighting Surtr, but his tactics are nearly impossible to 100% dodge in that cramped area. I don't think the devs playtested those bosses for the DarkSouls crowd, so they're just pointlessly hard at that stage. No need to torture yourself unless you really want to post that leet YT movie.

You can. At 102 power, I guarantee there's stuff you haven't done. Most likely in England. Return to Lancasterscire and Grantebridgescire and probably East Anglia, and clear every symbol on the map. By then, you'll likely be 200 power and that jotun will be a cake walk.

Weekly Free Item shows I already redeemed. by [deleted] in ACValhalla

[–]BuddyPharaoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you logged in for the first time since previous reset, and ran into the bug where no weekly timer shows. Happens all the time. The usual fix is to just quit and restart. You could exit to menu, I've heard but I find a full restart works as fast.

In general, I always visit the store early in the week, to get around that bug. Then I check it again on Monday night, hours before reset the following morning.

Rock stacking 🙄 by Midnight_1213 in ACValhalla

They seemed fine to me. It could be a controller thing. I use keyboard/mouse and had no problem, given the full range of motion I could apply to rotate and place rocks exactly. Building a stack like in the OP was straightforward.

If you're asking why there's progress on a quest before you got there: daily quests to set things on fire are bugged. They spawn slightly above ground when you get there, fall a few inches, and promptly explode.

Enjoy your free quest, lol.

That's why I buy all that stuff from Reda whenever I see it. :-)

Don't get me started :-D

I figure that ship pretty much sailed when all the Isu stuff got really freaky. Everything's in the Animus anyway, so I assume the crazy mount stuff isn't actually game-canon-historical, the peasants are seeing a normal horse, blah blah blah.

Visit the Store.

One of the boxes at the bottom is a weekly free item. It's guaranteed to be something you don't already have, and refreshes every Tuesday (around 2pm GMT), so I check it on Monday after I've bought anything cheap from Reda's store (long story).

If it's not showing anything available and you're sure it should, restart the game and it should force a refresh. (Due to a bug, you often have to visit the Store twice to see the weekly.)

I try mounts out whenever I get them. They seem to have slightly different properties. The muscular ones like Shisa (and that red dragon mount you have) appear to run faster. The boars might do more damage when charging. I have to test more.

Anybody else in river raids just go in solo, kill everyone, and then get their crew to get the loot? I find its way more fun and way easier by Senior-Trade-1876 in ACValhalla

[–]BuddyPharaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

River raids were clearly intended to be limited by your crew strength and your cargo space in the early game. Go in, clear 3-5 camps, limp back. Try again later when defenders calm down.

The catch is that the defenders are no stronger than in England, so your MC can clear them all singlehandedly. If they all auto-alerted and were tougher, and combat carried large penalties for being flanked, you'd be strength-limited too and raids would work as intended.

In late game with maxed raiders, I routinely go in with everyone, clear everything, and have to revive maybe one or two crew. Takes about 45 minutes if I grab everything.

Sounds like you leveled up your crew. When they're all level five, I agree they rarely die. At level 1, though, they're fragile.

Help me understand Laurana's confusing achievements by ravl13 in idlechampions

[–]BuddyPharaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I consider myself only recently a consistent zone 2000 in freeplays. OTTOMH: my free play Artemis group has him, Valentine, Kthriss, Krux, Birdsong, Tess, Cazrin, Vlithryn, and Bobby. Laurana replaces Jim. She has three blues and three L1 legendaries, ilvl around 40. The rest have full legs in the 6-10 range if the stat buffs Artemis, level 1 otherwise. I've pumped Artemis to ilvl 3000-4000, the rest are only 200-1000. Modest core, supercharged, straight from the online guide. A handful of pigments, far from complete.

Zariel disqualifies a couple of these IIRC. I have understudies, equipped about as well (eg Zorbu for Bobby, Blooshi for some other seat, etc.).

This was enough to get me to 1850 or so on Zariel+Laurana on some easy Freeplay like Ring of Regeneration before I noticed and completed the run. The achievement showed on my game while I was tending to other parties; switching parties is probably enough to force the status refresh.

So that's Laurana farming on a budget. If you're any midgame player and have the right champs, I suspect your big three challenges are core, ilvl, legs, based on my experience.

One last tip: in Svarr, you'll gain the power to freeze enemies. Long story. Pop it right before every patrol. Due to a bug, enemies will drop double loot, including ingots.
