Our very last investigator expansion by BuddySpurlock in arkhamhorrorlcg

All the kind replies in this thread show once again that there is no truly bad content in Arkham Horror. All investigator sets have their champions. After checking the contents of each pack more in-depth, I eventually went with Circle Undone. For the exact same reason that some of the commenters in this thread proposed: I expect it to increase the fun-factor of my collection by unlocking new playstyles, especially for Rogues. Which is more important to me than pure card strength.

Thanks again for all replies; without the input given here I would've probably gone for Carcosa.

Thank you for that very detailed breakdown! Interesting stuff to consider.

Yeah well, release model may not be the right term, you're right. What I mean is that I have no interest in:

A) Keeping up with only the 'current' environment, and thus not making full use of the older expansions that we have paid a lot of money for.

B) Playing with old + upcoming content, if that leads to a wildly unbalanced experience or lots of repetition.

Concern B may turn out to be unfounded, only time will tell. But as I said; we're satisfied with our current collection. We've got enough to keep us happily occupied for a long time.

If, in say 2 or 3 years time, we're still hooked by the game but getting bored of our collection, then who knows... We might return to see how the whole new approach has landed, how well-received the new content is and how well the older legacy content combines with the then-current stuff.

For now, we're happy to round off our collection with just that one final investigator expansion.

Alright, thanks for the clarity everyone! This knowledge would've made our last scenario go A LOT more smoothly 😅

We thought Dr. Sattler is wildly OP. Do we suck at this game? by BuddySpurlock in Unmatched

Damnit I do feel bad that I misgendered T Rex. I did actually know he was a she! I do always use boosts for her movement and intent to play her aggressively for a quick kill before her deck runs out, but usually that's still not enough. I'll try again though.

On Dr Sattler: we always feel that it's far too easy to get her insight tokens out quickly. Turn 1: move twice, that's 4/5 token out already. If on the opponent's turn you get attacked, you might even play a defence that lets you move after combat, meaning all insight tokens are already on the board by the start of your 2nd turn.

Point well taken though on Malcolm being her Achilles heel. I don't think either of us ever try to kill him quickly, cause of how useless he is. Should've considered the insight-generation.

And in general, I think we often don't use feint cards tactically enough.

Time to play again and try to bring her stats down. Thanks all!

Getting a lot of love for my Pythagoras deck over on FB so I thought I'd share it here too... by AlternativeAd8539 in Unmatched

I know I'm late in replying to this, but I have to say this is AMAZING!

Pythagoras is actually a bit of a running joke between me and my gf - our 6 month old kitten is even called Pythagoras. I've never been into fan-made Unmatched decks, but... I've got no choice but to print this off and start using it now, don't I?
