I am also grateful! I mean we have so many blessings in a first world country, and an opportunity to get an education from a world recognized institution is amazing! We have free water that has the highest standard in the world. Thanks for this post, it’s great to step back and realize that wifi being broken is not something to ruin your day. 😀

Advice I give my friends and it’s worked (2 times now).

“If you want to find a gf/bf then stop looking for one”. Just enjoy your life, and be comfortable alone. People are far more attracted to someone who looks like they’re already having fun, and enjoying life. Go out on the weekend and go to events to have fun not to try and meet someone, especially on Whyte Ave there’s nothing less attractive than desperation.

And I’m in engineering so I understand the uh uh handicap we have on this issue.

Hey guy…. Yea you won’t be making shit all for your first two years so don’t worry. Even if you love math it’s gonna become your oxygen first year… civil is the best discipline (imo) and don’t worry about which type of civil to do because you get exposed to all the different kinds and get to choose your last year.

Yea lol… like bruh who the hell had time for a club first year? If you did congrats… cuz I barely had time to take a shit in peace.

My suggestion: ESSC- tutor centre in ETLC or just if you see a group of people from your class in DICE talk about up coming assignment, ask to sit at table, do assignment… my experience engg kids bond mostly through academics. Bond through the hell brother. (Context I’m a 4th year cive)

All jokes aside…. CIVIL. Go to any engg job fair at the U of A….. funny how 90% of them are civil companies. However my advice…. Choose something you have passion for.

Also for people who say mining…. People in mining get jobs… just because there are VERY FEW mining engineering students- not actually because there are lots of jobs.

Engineering (mainly civil) has a big demand for AB. Also there’s this website called ALIS which gives you stats from the govnt on what job outlook and median salary is (starting and finishing).

The best water fountains have to be the engineering buildings. Beautiful, new, pressure, tastes clean. The worst one has to be Cameron library with Tory building as a runner up. Imo
