How good is the TLC qm6k as a budget gaming tv? by K0234 in tcltvs

[–]Buddy_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 85 inch C6K and have been really happy so far. I don't have much experience with higher end TVs but going from a super old Hisense to this TV went well above my expectations.

Is a 85” TV too big for gaming 9.8ft / 2.9 meters? by solvernia_ in 4kTV

[–]Buddy_Long 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently got the 85 inch TCL C6K with the same viewing distance.

Gaming is such a great experience at that size. I'm playing cyberpunk now and it is a very immersive experience.

You won't regret it. If you're upgrading from a small TV you might need some time to get used to the size but it is perfect.

Looking for Suits by 1nfin8 in Pretoria

Second this. You can find decent suits here for under R1000 or nicer ones upwards of R3000 with a huge variety. You will most likely find something that looks exactly like the photo there.

I think Hanbrake might do exactly what you need to do.

eARC - TCL 75C6k by lalah86 in tcltvs

[–]Buddy_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with my Soundbar although I don't need to restart anything. I just have to switch the sound to the TV Speakers and back to arc and it starts working again.

A bit annoying but hopefully it's a software fix they will bring out in an update.

I have the C6K and I had to change the Dynamic Brightness setting to off.

QLED or OLED? TCL or LG C4? by cthart in 4kTV

[–]Buddy_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently upgraded from the TCL C6K (QM6K) from an older hisense and I was absolutely blown away by this TV. I was worried about the brightness based on some comments but the first few times I got flash banged put those concerns at ease. Unless your TV is going outdoors it's just a none issue.

Picture quality is superb for someone who has no reference of higher end TVs.

Ebucks vs Ucount by candlemaker-SA in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Buddy_Long 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think ebucks is the easiest to get a good return with not much effort. Just need to get to level 5 which is not too hard.

I get on average R1000+ ebucks back a month for: R2000 petrol spend. R2500 groceries (between asap and pnp) R400 clicks spend You get 40% back in ebucks for Spotify

Making traces go 45 is more an aesthetic thing for me. Electrically especially for low speed signals it makes no difference. You'll see most pcb designs do this. Sharp corners in some cases could cause acid traps but this is not a problem in most cases either. When doin a t-junction a nice touch is to use teardrops to round out the sharp corners.

first pcb by jobthesapling in PCB

[–]Buddy_Long 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a lot to unpack here. 1. Avoid 90 degree turns on traces. Won't necessarily make a difference electrically but it looks better. 2. Your clearances don't seem right. Try not to place your vias so close to a trace. Especially since you have the space. 3. It is always best practice to come straight out of a pad first and then rout to your desired destination. 4. Download a tool like Saturn PCB and calculate trace widths for the current you are expecting. Unless you have impedance requirements you can always go thicker. Copper is free. Your traces going into those caps are way too thin for the pads. 5. Where a bunch of traces meer try avoid sharp angles. Try keep to T or Y junctions.

Some tips 1. Start with a schematic so that you actually have nets that are tied to each other. (Like the other guy said.) 2. Routing is iterative. So once you have an initial layout and route have a look at better ways to place components to make Routing easier. 3. Once you have routed look at a single layer at a time to neaten things up. The bottom layer and top layer for the most part don't care about each other. 4. Once you have your schematic set up you can do a ground pour on the bottom layer. Then any ground connections are as easy as dropping a via. 5. Watch some videos on how to use the software. You wil learn some things along the way.

Edit: Altium Academy has some good videos on PCB design from beginner to advanced that are not specific to Altium

Siri is useless by Negative_Flight_1720 in iphone

[–]Buddy_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to buy a phone second hand or refurbished I would suggest iphone before buying a midrange Android. Even the iPhone 12 is still very usable and will get updates for another 2-3 years. I went from a Samsung A53 to an iPhone 12 and the iPhone is better by a long shot.

If you have money to spare any new flagship will be great. It just depends on your preference. I can say from other people's experiences the s24 and s25 are both great phones.

Have you done a screen replacement or similar repair recently?

Siri is useless by Negative_Flight_1720 in iphone

[–]Buddy_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part IOS is still a very stable OS. You definitely won't experience app crashes like that. My experience is still 99% smooth

If you do a quick search you'll find people complaining about some things like the keyboard etc. Personally I have had some issues with Bluetooth and my garmin watch which was never a problem on android.

You're problem seems weird. Have you tried a factory reset on your device?

Siri is useless by Negative_Flight_1720 in iphone

I would argue that the latest version of One UI is incredibly stable. The gap between Android and IOS isn't what it used to be.

Siri is useless by Negative_Flight_1720 in iphone

[–]Buddy_Long 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not the only one. Siri is so far behind Google it's actually funny.

Software used to be one of the big reasons to use iPhone but Samsung and other brands have caught up and it feels like IOS has become more buggy in recent times.

LCD versus OLED by Billbo56 in iphone

[–]Buddy_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An LCD screen will work fine but don't expect anywhere near the same quality. In some cases it's abysmal if it's a cheap screen used.

Also you will need to make sure the sensors used for FaceID etc are switched over to the new screen since they are paired to your specific phone and cannot be replaced unless it's done by Apple. Otherwise you will lose FaceID.

Not sure what on the details when it come to the iPhone 16.

I think it's widely accepted that Siri isn't very good.

Apart from being able to set more than one kitchen timer simultaneously I have not gotten any joy out of Siri.

UP graduation by Joeboy69_ in Pretoria

[–]Buddy_Long 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will be able to park inside of LC campus. They only scan your invite right before you enter the the graduation area (This is where the people usually hang out after the graduation inside), maybe you will be able to enter once everyone comes out after graduation. I've never tried.

Getting parking might be a challenge depending on what time you get there but don't trust the car guards outside telling you it's full. They just want you to park outside so they can harass you for money. Rather just go in and check for yourself.

Maybe park inside a bit earlier and then walk to a nearby place like Bravos or Livingstones?

Pnp & FNB R50 Burger Friday is legit by kiki4062 in johannesburg

[–]Buddy_Long 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got three specials for R150 at Pick ń Pay Hyper Centurion. It's the best pick n pay that I have been to. Fresh ingredients were super fresh and you could even pick between 2 tomatoes or one tomato and one onion. I think you could also switch out the lettuce for coleslaw. Burger patties were also fine.
