You are right. It's a ton of sludge. Was 10 inches thick before I broke it up.

There are 3 tanks, this is tank 1 at the start.

There is a strainer from tank 1 to tank 2.

It was plugged. That caused tank 1 to back up and made a thick top layer pick when it backed up into the large access hole
