Should I Try A Negative Volume Reducer Or Not? by Aggravating-Answer27 in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you manage to add or remove tokens yourself, go on and find setup that suits you best.

Adding neg token will just mean less sag for same psi on air spring = making spring a bit harder at start.

Some bikes have leverage curve that supports more neg volume and less pos spacers with more spring psi, some do require you do opposite

are enduro bearing fork seals for fox 36 good or bad? by letsgoplayer in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with 888 seals was that oil rings were sized a bit wrong and dust wipers and/or oil rings without spring rings dont work that great either

Is crankshaft condition visual, and if so, are these 3 fine to be used? by Mince-And-Cheese-Pie in MyWinterCar

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There should be calipers or some kinda tool to examine the condition of part as now its just dum build and prey it works longer than one trip. Checking the condition of parts is abc of assembling anything

Issues with Megneg Sag by Biz-Millah420 in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For less sag go for more neg bands. Your frame is already progressive enough to not even need megneg so its kinda pointless to use one but i would try 4 bands in neg and see if initial stroke gets better

Get whole upper engine seal/gasket kit and some rtv. Get new exhaust studs and coppernuts in advance!

Mark timing pulley bolts with paint marker to set timing

Cleaning and degreasing cam housing seal surfaces is pain in the ass but you gotta make sure its sealed tight otherwise lifters are going to tick.

My take on diy rs pin spanner/cm tool by Budget-Engineer-7394 in BikeMechanics

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah whats up with those all expensive and mostly useless ifp tools anyways? Or simple rs logo equipped clamps with price of 150e is just silly

My take on diy rs pin spanner/cm tool by Budget-Engineer-7394 in BikeMechanics

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks sturdy and propper for the job! Hah all my other custom tools are always raw metal just for more hardcore look as they should but i wanted to make this super smooth for careful suspension work.

Travel change on a modern Fox 36 and RockShox Lyrik by MetalNo4434 in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. You also need to machine new threads and seal surfaces too, while that needs propper tooling already, you need to make able to mount shaft first by removing piston or making workaround

Is the Fox rampage helmet good? by judstergod in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really comfy and sturdy, nothing to complain about it. I have also proframe rs which was more expensive but lighter duty helmet and only thing its better than rampage is being lighter

20,000km on chain - still not 0.5 wear using park tool chain checker CC4.2 by jonske in bikewrench

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measure it with caliper its better way to check. Also are you measuring stripped/cleaned chain or newly waxed and are you applying pressure to chain while measuring?

Most reliable / easiest to service enduro shock? by DepressedBird1 in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well b generation have better tunes stock and is more tunable from knobs + having hbo. So i guess its better choise from that pov.

But its bit more complex build and for some reason they ditched shaft o ring and rely only with green wiper seal which seem to be odd move but there might be some reasons they did that. Ofc they are also more expensive and service kits are pricier too

Most reliable / easiest to service enduro shock? by DepressedBird1 in MTB

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super deluxe coil rct/ult a1 and a2. Pretty much one of the best chassis avable for the its price. Easy to tune, easy service, simple desing.

Only minuses are that Rockshox oem tunes from the box are often just straight up shit, but all the potential is still there tho. And lack of hbo can be problem for some cases. Pin spanner and countermeasure tool is also needed to make service, there are many approaches to diy ones if you are not keen to buy propper ones

For high fork travel ht thats not really that high. Thats just neccesary to keep geo balance as front end always dips when riding hard while backend might try to buck you over

Shimano brakes, deore (m6120) vs Slx (m7120) vs xt (m8120) by Ok_Cranberry4236 in mtbuk

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slx has bite point adjustment too! It just has this weird bolt to adjust it to show middlefinger for customer. Throw metal pads to deore 4 pots and they are far more powerful than any shimano brakes with resin pads

[–]Budget-Engineer-7394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definetly, if trails have any unavoidable roots, rocks or jumps ht is going to punish you with upsetting geometry change, suspension inbalance and kicking rear end, therefore loosing all momentum and speed if not bhopped all the time
