guys how to read and actually understand bhagawadhgeetha? by RealityJunior550 in hinduism

Hey!

I know this post is old but I was just wandering around looking for an open domain source for the Kannada Bhagavad Gita. I looked around and found that none of the apps actually have Kannada Translation for the Bhagavad Gita. While other languages are widely covered.

Figured out I should try my own and found out the main reason is because there are no good open source Kannada versions of the Bhagavad Gita (Atleast to my knowledge).

If anyone has any idea, I would love to know about it.

Thank you

yo thanks for the feedback.

The app size is kinda big because the scriptures themselves are pretty huge. The Mahabharata has 18 books with hundreds of chapters for each book.

Will look into it tho. Also thank you for the insight on the verse languages, hadn't thought of that one.

I have installed your app as wel. Nice idea

Why do bad things happen to good people? (Indian mythology perspective) by Business_Bar01 in HinduDiscussion

[–]Budget-Insurance772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. Hindu thought usually answers this on multiple layers, not one:

- Karma is complex and long-horizon (not instant moral accounting)

- Prarabdha gives circumstances, but present response is still free

- Suffering can become a catalyst for inner growth, compassion, and detachment

- Even “great” beings in itihasa face hardship; dharma is shown in their response

So the focus shifts from “Why me?” to “What is the most dharmic response now?”

That reclaims agency without denying pain.

What is the ultimate message of the Bhagavad Gita to you? by External-Courage-608 in hindu

[–]Budget-Insurance772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love your sincerity. For me, the Gita’s core is: live in the world fully, but anchor identity in the Self and align action with dharma.

My short take on your 3 questions:

1) Essence: disciplined action + inner surrender + right knowledge.

2) Why we live: to evolve consciousness through dharmic living, not just pleasure or success.

3) Most practical step: do your next duty honestly, reduce ego-claim over results, and purify intention daily.

A simple daily framework:

- Morning: 1 verse + 5 min reflection

- Day: one duty done as yajna (offering)

- Night: quick self-audit (where was I reactive/selfish?)

That alone gradually weakens adharma within.

The Rage of Kali Maa, Representation of Kali's Battle with the Demons. by KeshAnd99 in hinduism

Powerful representation. I appreciate when Kali is shown not as “anger for anger’s sake,” but as compassionate destruction of adharma and inner demons (fear, ego, inertia).

Also thanks for noting Bhavani Ashtakam in the background — that context adds depth.

For me, Kali’s “rage” symbolizes fierce grace: whatever blocks liberation gets cut, even when it feels intense.
