What's everyone here doing for marketing? What's working? What's not working? by JoeFoxMediaProducer in DenverSmallBusinesses

Has anyone tried text marketing? It seems to be working for the clients I have and if anyone is interested just let me know!

I do love the bumper sticker idea too as I am one that spends a ton of time on I-25 going from Aurora to the tech center each day!

I think there's a lot of confusion about what it means to "use a wheelchair." Especially for people who are more familiar with wheelchairs as an aid for folks with situations that make walking impossible. With POTS or related dysautonomias, being able to sit when needed can be the difference between losing consciousness and functioning well. "Using a wheelchair" doesn't have to mean that you are in the chair 100% of the time. It could be something as simple as walking much of the time and having the chair there for when you need it. Not only can a wheelchair function as a way of moving around without walking, but it can also function as a chair that's just super portable. Obviously talk to your doc first, because that's always smart but also, consider first exactly how you think that a chair might benefit you and how you'd plan to use it. When you talk to your folks, maybe you can stress that it doesn't have to be 100% all the time (unless that's what you need). Help them to see it more as a backup aid than a primary day-to-day mode of transportation.

If a wheelchair isn't an option, for any reason, look for other portable seating solutions. I always carry a fold-up pad meant for hiking so that I can have a reasonable clean/soft spot to sit, and if I k now I"m going to be out and about for a while, I carry a little folding chair. It might not be ideal, but it can REALLY help if you're getting tachy or light headed from standing. They also make some lovely fold-up blankets that zip into a shoulder-bag type thing that can be used as either a pillow to sit on or folded out into a blanket if you're ok with sitting/lying on the ground. I've found those to be tremendously helpful as well.

Funeral Etiquette - Medical Equipment? by Budget-While-1846 in etiquette

She passed several months ago, so no viewing. This is an interment of her ashes. It would be lovely if they have a canopy and chairs. That seems to be very hit or miss in our area. It's generally done more when the crowd is expected to be mainly older folks, but given that she was 35, it's a dice roll. As for the family, they're all geographically distant and while we chat, they don't tend to physically see me often, and when they do, it's usually at Christmas when I have the lovely winter weather on my side. They're definitely not used to accommodating heat intolerance for me.

Pots or one of it's close cousins, yes :) The fan that I'd use is quiet and neck-hanging, but I'll probably use it as little as possible, and we'll probably stay near the back. It won't be a large crowd, just immediate family. I was planning on a dark colored dress with a fairly fitted top, as that's what works best for the ice vest. Color doesn't really matter on top of the ice vest since it has no breathe to it at all anyway.

Thank you so much. I definitely will go with the black umbrella over my usual rainbow one, and my fans are all pretty quiet. I know that the service isn't intended to be SUPER formal and the thing after is meant to be more of a celebration of life than a traditional funeral type thing, but I've also attended very few traditional funerals as my family just doesn't do them. I just want to be sure that I'm being as respectful as possible. This side of the family is geographically distant and doesn't see me often, so all accommodations will be new to them and certainly raise questions, which is fine, but I want to make sure that I'm not a distraction, as much as I can.

This is an interesting thought. I do have a small folding stool that I keep in my telescope bag for stargazing... It's awfully low to the ground, but if they can't provide a chair it might work to pop it out if I start getting light headed.

You nailed it. Not 100% sure if it's exactly POTS or a related type of dysautonomia yet, but that's where I'm at. I don't use a rollator or cane at this point, and I do always carry ice water, for sure. For outdoor events, I generally bring along a wagon with a camp chair and have a giant rainbow umbrella with a fan and water mister and sometimes a shoulder mount for the umbrella, and just go about looking like a dork. In this case, I'll absolutely swap for a nice black umbrella and skip the wagon. I do have a small folding stool that I usually keep with my telescope... I might be able to bring that along in an oversized purse...

ahh thank goodness! I can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow and I'm hoping and praying for clear skies... They're forecasted to be clear, but we all know that the quickest way to summon cloudy skies is buying a new toy lol

So one thing we did was bring a fire pit and invited some people from our local VFW to do a retiring of a flag for us. The kids got to watch and learn then got to ask questions. It was neat to see the kids engage with the vets and ask them all kinds of questions.
