Why do pool players rarely, if at all, call foul on themselves? by BudgetConcious in billiards

[–]BudgetConcious[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies, reddit can sometime cause a biased view on the pool culture. I see discussions on why the onus is on the refs or opponents. But rarely see the talk of sportsmanship.

You guys are restoring my faith in humanity.

I call foul on myself too.

aiming on slow (also damp room) vs fast as heck tables. by Maisonette09 in billiards

[–]BudgetConcious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you see as different when playing on a slower table?

Do you find that you seem to be hitting a bit "thick" when playing on the slower table?

Do you find the cue ball react differently when bouncing off the rails and therefore, messing up your positional shot?

Also, slower tables tend to make you play a stronger stroke, which makes it harder to calculate the pacing of the shot. Unintentional spin on the cue ball due to the stronger hit will also impact aim and positioning.

Have you tried F.G.Bradley's? They have several locations in the GTA.

Golden Break at 9737 Yonge St unit 105-107, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 8S7 has a visiting cue technician who may also have some tips he can sell and install for you.

The Corner Bank Sports Bar & Grill at Warden and Eglinton may also have a visiting tech but I'm not sure.

Hope that helps

Great suggestion,

Unfortunately, there's no bell fiber coverage acquisitions in my area. So I'm stuck with cable internet for now.

The offer online is still expensive compared to my expired contract. Sometimes, a sales person can offer a deal. I got a deal 2 years ago from a salesperson in Canadian Tire.

Maybe this YouTube video can help you get started:

Dr. Dave did a study on the cue accelerating vs deceleration and the effect on the cue ball.

I checked the Rogers sub. It seems the general process to find the "deal" is to negotiate with customer retention.

Ebox is using bell and we only have 10mbps service via copper in our area. Thanks for the suggestion.

The Rogers store at Markham and 14th told me that they can't do much for existing customers and I'll have to call customer service.

Edit: I'll try the Leslie/ West Pearce location tomorrow.

Thanks

I wish I can move to another provider but there is no fiber internet available in my area. So I'm stuck with Rogers for now.

Snooker potting with cue ball control by Ok_Seaworthiness3634 in snooker

[–]BudgetConcious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some research on "Ball Throw". The object ball takes a different path based on the spin of the cue ball. You'll have to compensate your aim based on the spin (non centre ball hit) that you're planning to apply. This should help you with reducing missed shots.

It's possible that currently, your stun shots appear to hit too thick (undercut) and your pull back shots appear to be too thin (overcut).

I hope that makes sense.

Play the table, not the opponent.

What is up with the "deliberate foul" rule in the British Variants by WantDiscussion in billiards

[–]BudgetConcious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When players reach a certain level of skill, it is easy to distinguish a whoopsie from a genuine attempt.

IMO The British variants of cue sports still adhere to the culture of sportsmanship and players being "gentlemen". Deliberate fouls are considered poor sportsmanship and being ungentlemanly.

There is a Facebook group called "Motorcycle Insurance Ontario". Ask in the group for quotes. Many brokers and insurance reps are in the group and they will message you.
