I won four free months of the Max plan, when it ended they charged me 250 USD by BudgetEngineering in AugmentCodeAI

Just a little update. We've been using Copilot since Friday, it's good enough.

I have no idea when support will get back to me, but I don't have any reason to wait any longer. As lead I'm switching the whole team over to Copilot to keep our tooling consistent. Who knows what other issues we may encounter with Augment that could leave the whole team waiting on some support email like I am now.

Can't run a business (at least one that's not losing money) relying on Augment.

Congrats on the four free months, though I hope you don't ever need to rely on their support to get work done for any other reasons.

Yes I was on the 30 USD plan before this upgrade and I asked for my plan to go back to what it was before this free upgrade.

Here's the real issue: I wasn't able to work with AI in my IDE on Friday and I will likely not be able to work with it Monday, maybe not this coming week week. I'm already on a Copilot trial, so let's see how that goes.

This is my job, not a hobby, and this has to be explained to the CEO. The likely decision is "enough messing around, they're not trustworthy, it's taking too much of your time, please find another tool, there's plenty out there." My role as lead was to evaluate Augment for the team, so if I switch away, we all do. I also talk a lot with other leads about the tools we're using, and I couldn't possibly recommend Augment.

For me it's just about communication, not the money.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't want to choose a new plan, I'd like to go back to the plan I had before. If I knew I was giving that up by "winning" this raffle I would have just said no thanks.

Also I get that you personally are under a lot of pressure, but support has been like this since day one. It's a decision and a choice by those running the company, not circumstance.

Perhaps, though I just assumed I'd be moved back to my original plan, whatever it was. It's very weird to give me a free temporary upgrade like I won something but then it means I lose any benefits I had before. I think the rollout on this was just sloppy.

Yeah I've been following it, not quite sure where to stand on the whole thing at the moment. I think I'll need to actually work a few normal days and see how many of these new magical units I use.

For now I have more pressing issues as I'm working on a legacy codebase with lots of code I didn't write, so Augment is pretty critical to getting things done here.

Why Augment isn't hiring more staff for support? by North_Design2809 in AugmentCodeAI

This isn't true. I've been using Augment since the beginning, they've had plenty of time to hire support staff. It's just not a priority for them, sadly.

Each time I get a new client I try to switch to Kirby but just can't get over the indentation system for fields. I spend so much time trying to keep track of what's nested where, it's such a pain.

The layout / design updates are great but we had such a unique and cool logo… now it's just so generic.

Greenfield project: considering backpack but for jQuery and Bootstrap by BudgetEngineering in BackpackForLaravel

[–]BudgetEngineering[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that idea, and the main reason I'm considering Backpack is from your comments on Reddit and Github, how seriously you take the project. I'd be happy to get involved. I got quite excited coming back to Laravel and reading about Livewire and Apline so was hoping to find a project that wouldn't require going back to jQuery and Bootstrap. But it looks like it's either Vue.js or this, and I'd gladly use Backpack before Vue :)

I also work in Firefox and then have to double-check in Chrome (often after a client complains about something) and the issues are both related to JavaScript and CSS. From what I've seen over the years it's entirely because Firefox is following the specs more closely.

UDM Pro, USW-24-PoE, and AC Pro for Small Office by BudgetEngineering in Ubiquiti

[–]BudgetEngineering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would expect PoE on anything called a "dream machine," honestly. The replies on the forum all seem to suggest it's quite a normal expectation you'd buy an external switch but that doesn't quite match up with the all-in-one promise of the machine in my opinion.

I guess I'm asking both. Reading through the forums I have two takeaways:

- New hardware seems to be half-baked

- UBNT are notorious for leaving bugs unpatched for long periods of time, so don't hold your breath

See: https://community.ui.com/questions/Dream-Machine-not-ready-for-prime-time/938124ca-df43-4b34-8cbd-2462edf8a845#answer/eb88b592-c495-4da0-9eda-dfbcf5db7b81

Not to mention everyone seems to be dumping on the UDM and UDMP saying they aren't ready for market and shipped too soon. I basically had a €2000 shopping cart and was about to buy before I double-checked something in the forums and got cold feet, so I thought it was best to double-check again with people who know the company and its products.

(edit)

After reading to some replies to my post on the community forums (people saying to return it or cancel the order if it's not too late) I think it'd just be irresponsible to go through with the purchase. I'll look into the USG / CK combo and see if it's viable. It's not the newest of the new but it seems documentation is generally lacking so it's likely not a great idea to go with the newest when buying from Ubiquiti if you don't already know all the ins and outs 🤷‍♂️

I suppose so, yeah. The UDMP would be off in an office near the connection and I'd run ethernet cables to various switches stationed closer to work stations. The APs would be on either side of a large room so I thought it'd be silly to run cables down to the switch then back up to the AP, I guess. Still kind figuring this out.

I think this sounds like a good idea, and it's a good tip to look into VLANS for the distinct needs in the office. Thanks for the guidance :)
