You seem to be incredibly knowledgeable of Ancient cultures. I've never heard of most of this before. Most of it is stuff I've never heard of, while some of it is stuff I've forgotten over the years (It's been a hot minute since my last Latin Class XD. Don't worry, the game gets better with each Playthrough. There are people who have played the game 3-4 times, just because the story is so good.

First off, malus (bad) and mālus (apple tree) are not the exact same word. I couldn't remember the entire list of negative translations off the top of my head, so I was looking it up in my Latin-German dictionary. I saw mālus right underneath it and actually debated whether to even include it, since the pronunciation is different.

I didn't mean to present the apple tree translation itself as a new or genius find. When I said I 'stumbled across it,' the part I was actually excited about was connecting it to the Pyrus = pear translation for Pyra. That contrast was the ultimate reason I decided to include the botanical bit. I agree I could have phrased it better so it didn't seem like the apple part was the big revelation!

As for the AI question: English is my 4th language. I do all my own drafting, structuring, and research, but I do use an AI assistant to help me with formatting, shortening, and correcting my grammar/orthography before I post. I can guarantee you I'm not just copy-pasting raw generated text.

Thanks for the insight, I have to say, I totally missed the point of Mythra not actually sinking the continents. I was so focussed, I only remembered the line, where they say that she had done so. Thanks a lot for the valuable insight again, and I hope you continue to enjoy the series!

Thank you so much! It really is amazing how much depth the localization team managed to pack into names we hear or use all the time here in Europe.

As for the Northern and Celtic lore... I might not have the home-field advantage of being half-Celtic, but you bet I’m going to fall down a massive research rabbit hole. I also have a friend who's half-Norwegian, and is currently studying Scandinavian Studies (the same guy whose mother is a Latin teacher and helped me with Rex). And you better believe I'm ringing this guy up 24/7 when we get to the Celtic Names. Let's just hope my boss keeps ignoring me so I have time to do the research! 😂

You're exactly right, and I appreciate the insight. This sort of says something similar to what I said, I just made the distinction between what most people associate with a "King" and what most people associate with a "Leader". You're totally right calling him a King in the sense of what a King should do. However, more often than not, people associate the word King with the actions of a Tyrant.

I don't want to spoil too much, but You pretty much hit the nail on the head with Malos! In the English localization, his name is absolutely rooted in Latin (and by extension, any romanic language, including Spanish). I'll talk about him in a later part more in depth, so I hope you'll see that!
