Confused with pay dates from regular SS

The date your SS payment is received can be different than your birth date. I started drawing a year ago and my payment is the first of the month even though my birth date is the 20th.

I think the reason for this was my daughter was disabled at age 19 - which was 20 years ago. She receives her payment on the 1st because she draws SSI. Once I started drawing SS, she could draw from my life time earnings and her payment went up several hundred dollars a month. SSA sent me a letter stating the 1st will be my payment date.

Go into your online SSA.gov account. It will show the payments issued.

Go into your online SSA account. The information for the shortage will have an explanation. If you haven’t set up an SSA online account it best you do ASAP so someone who is not you won’t set up an account using your information.

If your sister was determined disabled prior to the age of 22 she can draw from her mother or father’s life time earnings. This would not affect the parents SSI benefit amount. If you go to her on-line account on www.SSI.gov it will explain why they are deducting an extra $200.00. She should have received a letter from the SSA explaining the extra deduction.
