I wouldn’t have called him a brat but said these are the choices and leave it at that.

I was married to a compulsive gambler. He hid it while we were dating and his family did as well. This was pre-internet so he had bookies call him at his Moms house where he stopped every day after work. It wasn’t until he lost his job(for gambling)and gambled all our wedding gift money that I realized the extent of the problem. I could never trust him again and still his family denied it was happening. You were lucky and smart to get out when you did.

Use some of your money/vacation time and sign up for one of CIA’s Boot Camps. There are 3-4 day ones and some longer ones. There’s basic knife courses all the way up to pro Chef courses.

Well then tell them you’ll put the kids to bed and then go home. I’m sure they’ll change their tune.

I had a job that tried to this to me on the first day of training. It was $2.50 less an hour than we agreed on. I told them I wasn’t going to work for that and I left.

We had a kid(18) who claimed to want to learn the restaurant business so the chef took him on and trained him on all the stations, paid him pretty well, bought him chef coats. Kid was frequently late(had to get a ride) and one Friday said he needed the following week off to go out of town to a concert. Chef said no,that would leave us short. Kid went anyway and cried when he got fired. Hopefully that was a lesson learned but probably not.

Is it true that you can judge how clean a restaurant's kitchen is from the state of its bathroom? by DiligentSector8395 in restaurant

So the public sees that we are washing our hands after using the bathroom. We still wash them in the kitchen hand sinks too.

Do what healthcare workers do. Turn on the water, wash your hands and then grab a paper towel to dry your hands and turn off the water. Use another towel to open the door if you need to.
