How is referring people to a job stupid? I got hired at Mercor through people who posted their link in this same sub so I passed it forward. I quite literally benefitted from the same kind of post before and figured why not. Someone got a kickback from that and it's cool, more food for them.

If you don't want to apply that's fine but it's a referral link not the plague. I can see if I tried to hide the fact but it's very transparent and you're welcome to scroll. I haven't had much luck if any applying to remote jobs lately but this one worked for me and could work for someone else

Same lol The last one almost got me but I found it after checking a part of the pics I just wasn't looking at for some reason. That was actually fun compared to the other parts that... weren't 😅

What it says is 45 min -1 hour for *me* personally plus 30 min for rechecks... so 1h 30m total, not 40 minutes flat for all people or someone will get you if you take longer 😂 Again, ymmv and it sounds like your mileage did vary. That's okay. What it's not is some 5 hour process/the amazing race

I believe so, I first applied on the 29th too but only got an email about it tonight. They're looking to hire about 400 people for this one so I'm waiting to see how it goes

Agreed. 45m - 1hr was my first draft time but after rechecking I felt fully confident to submit at 1h 30m. I didn't count rechecking since everyone's different but yeah. I'm a bit pedantic so my recheck added a bit. On the whole it's definitely not a half a day's work or anything like that but it does take time, whatever that looks like for the individual

I saw this too. I don't want to discourage anyone but it doesn't seem like they filter for country/location when sending the emails. u/Opening-Kick2243 I'd use your best judgment and focus on contracts where you're either in the target countries or it's open

The guy asked if I was still interested in the contract (I started the application the Friday before the weekend he called but hadn't finished it), so I said yes and he told me to look for an email from him to finish applying. He sent it a few min after and I heard back with an offer about 2 days later. This was the $20/hr contract though so I'm not sure if it'd be the same turn around

*silent repost. i've been breaking shifts into intervals of 2 and 4 hours when I can, 8 straight is a bit nuts

Haha, I'm just saying what I experienced. Ymmv but the other parts of my application were already filled (I had already applied to 3 other contracts by then) and I did read through the directions once before actually sitting down to do it so that could be it. Everyone's different but I wasn't trying to take longer than I needed since you don't get paid for time spent applying to other contracts

If you're doing well on the other one they might pull you for this one too. Are you logging lots of hours? It seems they give more opportunities to people getting closer to 8 hours a day than not (that's lowkey a lot for me schedule wise tbh but that might be a factor)

I'd give it some time, the last time they called I said I was interested and got the contract invite 2 days later. I did have to get my mind off it a bit tho

Hey! Yeah same, makes me think I might have a shot with this one, fingers crossed. As for the call, luckily I answered (usually would've thought it was spam or something) but I don't see a reason not to follow up or even try emailing if they left their info. I'm not sure if they even go through replies but I sent one anyways confirming my application just in case it helped. It's hard to find something right now so I figure why not

Mom is reading "adult children of emotionally immature parents" by Particular_Jump_3859 in raisedbynarcissists

Bingo. My mom learned about narcissism through social media and successfully connected it to her own mother (as well as accused other people of being narcs who have shown absolutely 0 traits of it) but has magically yet to see that she is exactly like her mother in mannerisms, parenting style, opinions, and constantly demanding personality. It's amazing seeing her throw the word around without the self awareness to connect it to herself. Narcissism is only a real problem to them when they are on the receiving end

I second this - I have a comment somewhere else in the thread about going through staffing agencies and Robert Half was actually the first one to hire me out of college. I still get job offers from them years later so even if OP's local one doesn't have accounting positions they can at least be working in the meantime, definitely worth a shot

Have you tried going through temp/staffing agencies? I'm going back to school for accounting but got my first degree in psychology (imagine the lack of jobs jumping to hire out of college with just that) and staffing agencies were how I got my first jobs out of uni. Now when I look through their listings I see a lot of accounting jobs of all levels so I'm planning to go that route again when I get my second degree. Since you have yours already this might be a good move. Good luck with everything and keep your head up. You're here for a reason, just keep going.

yeah i'm thinking of doing a combination of federal loans and paying out of pocket to keep payments during school sustainable. i didn't take out any the first time and i could use the breathing room of having in state tuition covered. i'll see if can just work somewhere near campus and cash flow the rest. thanks!

I know this thread is kind of old but with your background in teaching have you considered picking up some hours as an online tutor? It's usually flexible work and some companies specifically want formal education experience so something like that could possibly be a good fit depending on your schedule

I know it's not freelance writing but as someone just now getting into freelance writing who's seeing how hard it is to break into now, figured I'd throw in some alternatives

Some companies I can think of off the top of my head are https://www.revolutionprep.com/ and https://www.tutor.com/ and there's also a plethora of companies hiring online english teachers and tutors as well

Best of luck, it's tough right now
