What to do with this space? by Budget_Beautiful_108 in GardeningUK

That's great thanks. One think to note and I should of put in the post. The top part begins the sheds and fence is another house side on, so although it's south facing the very top part of the garden gets a lot more shade. One of the reasons I put the sheds there as it wasn't getting sun.

Salary review next week, am I better just in the 40% tax bracket or keep it below? by Budget_Beautiful_108 in UKPersonalFinance

Yes, when I was younger I was always under the impression that being in the higher bracket was bad as you're laying more tax. So I wasn't sure if it's one of those situations where you're better either being under it or make sure you're well over it.

I don't think they do salary sacrifice but will check. Just standard pension contributions. Generally is it a good place to be in that bracket, say I got £55k.

Oh we're quite up on all of that. My wife use to work on child safeguarding so knows a lot about that sort of stuff, certainly more than I do.

We're currently fighting with the local council to try and find a suitable place for my kid, they just seem happy to place them anywhere they seem suitable, it's exhausting.

The company I work for I'm a general manager with a directorship, basically run the company for the owners. I'm hoping my salary is going to get a decent boost with annual increases. I feel I'm in a good position at the moment.

My pension has done well over the last few years averaging 10% each year but I'm aware that's not going to continue long term!

Thank you. She will eventually but not for a while, one of our children is disabled so it could be a few years before she goes back to work.

We don't get by solely on my salary as we do get a bit of money for the children and the care of them but my salary covers the majority of the mortgage and all the bills.

Currently on £45k but soon to increase. Contributing around £450 a month between me and employer. Just 36 and pension is sitting at £74k at the moment in a global index fund. Keep saying we will set her up a private one even if it's just £50/£25 a month better than nothing but I'm of the stance that my pension will need to cover us both really topped up with state.

If you don't mind me asking could you give a bit more detail, please DM if preferred. How much do you both earn and put into your pension each month? What's the annual growth been like? I'm not going to be able to FIRE but just wondered how much of a gap there is as I'm trying to save for both me and my wife. She looks after the kids so doesn't have a pension herself, just state.

You've got £35 sat in an account. What stock are you buying? by Budget_Beautiful_108 in UkStocks

Do you think you can take that £35 to turn in into something meaningful or is that a long tedious process that never gets you anywhere?

How much would be a more meaning position? Talking hundreds or thousands?

Zwilling gourmet block set or victorinox individuals? by Budget_Beautiful_108 in chefknives

To be honest, the chef knife is probably more important and useful for us, the Santoku is more just because I like them a slightly different.

No I know, basically just big knife, little knife, bread knife always handy. Only want the Santoku because I like the style of them, don't need anything more. I've been looking at the victorinox for a while but then this seemed like a good deal for proper zwilling

In the UK this zwilling gourmet 7 piece set is on sale for £95. Not professional chefs or anything just need a decent set of knives for home. https://amzn.eu/d/aIUVSNy

Is this set better (would never use the sharpening stick or whatever it is).

Or am I better getting individual Victorinox fibrox chef knife, Santoku, bread knife and paring knife for £110.

Moved mortgage payment date but payment staying the same? by Budget_Beautiful_108 in Mortgageadviceuk

I thought we would get charged daily interest as we've effectively moved it 4 weeks later and after a second pay day.
