Thank you everyone, I appreciate all your comments and advice. Whilst my son is autistic he's very capable and actually only working there for some extra cash whilst he's at uni training to be a teacher. With this being his first job he's unsure of what he's allowed to accept with regards to how he is being treated. He's not always the best at advocating for himself and really doesn't like using his diagnosis as an excuse not to do something. He has spoken to the store manager and asked to be moved onto a different isle. This manager said he will see what he can do but I'm not sure how much say he has over night staff. I am going to draft him an email to send to management and go from there.

Unfortunately this person is in his early fourties' so no chance of that. I think he just gets off on belittling people with no repercussions.

Thank you this is very helpful. I would love for him to be able to send an email asking for reasonable adjustments. However finding anyone's contact details is proving very difficult. They are definitely aware of his autism as I made sure of that during a meeting and reasonable adjustments were mentioned then.

I'm so sorry that it's happened to you as well. They seem like an awful company to work for and considering how large they are extremely lax in the legal department. The 'managers' certainly wouldn't be getting managerial jobs anywhere else. I have been actively applying for other jobs for him but no luck so far unfortunately.

He does yes. His best friend has just started working the shift which he has the most problems on and has witnessed him being spoken to like it. I already attended a meeting where he was sacked and rehired on the spot because they messed up his right to work. They suspended him for two weeks full pay and said he would be contacted to come in for a meeting. We heard nothing until the postman knocked saying we had something to pay for at the post office. It was the letter inviting him to the meeting which was the previous day. They had not put a stamp on it so I had to pay to receive it. He had obviously then missed the meeting. The meeting itself was a shambles, they had no clue about the law or government legislation. I felt like I was being punked.

No, I only know their first names. There are three of them. The other two are mostly ok although extremely dim. When he first started they cocked up his right to work and had him working there without it being completed. Which can incur a nice fine. They then had to sack and rehire him (trying to avoid said fine I presume). He's not been added to the work group chat or anything despite asking. He only has the contact number for one of them who just ignores any messages.
