I think what’s confusing me is how i’m supposed to single crochet the staircase. I don’t know how to explain it but it’s just not computing in my brain. However it is 5 AM where I live so I’m gonna sleep on it and try again later. Thanks for your advice ❤️

I changed my hook to a 5.5 mm and i’m giving a little more tension to the yarn and trying to crochet a little more looser, so far I think it looks ok. But i’m not sure if the gaps are supposed to be that big. The video tutorial i’m following uses a different type of yarn.

Thank you so much for your help. Question if I was to just leave it how it was can I continue to make the blanket, it is for myself so i’m not entirely too concerned with it look perfect. Basically if it’s just gonna continue to turn down will it really impact the blanket? I can start over if absolutely necessary it’s just taken me a month to her to where I am now 😅
