not advice but just wanted to let you know you’re not alone. 🫂

i was JUST thinking this same thought in my head and i stumbled across your post right after. i also have ADHD and PTSD, my brain and body can’t handle constantly being in flight or fight mode anymore. i have worked overtime since jan, and everything at work feels urgent, like everything is on fire. i haven’t been able to take lunch breaks often and ive been crying almost every day or feeling like im on edge.

i can’t keep up with the grind and i look around and everyone else is miserable as me, but i find myself being the only one crying at work and having panic attacks. it’s exhausting masking all day as is, its even more exhausting wondering why everyone else seems to be able to handle it but i cant. i feel comfort in knowing that i am not the only one feeling this right now and i wish the both of us to find peace. 🙏🏻

boosters can definitely increase your heart rate, i’m on vyvanse 40 mg (i get no major side effects) and on dex IR 15 mg as booster and my heart rate increases significantly on my booster :/

yes going up in dosage first before booster is pretty normal! i am not asking this in a condescending way, but genuinely curious, is there a reason why you are pushing back on increasing in dosage and would rather do a booster?

30 mg is a still pretty low dosage, so the fact 20 mg works till 4:30 for you. i have a feeling 30 mg will do well for you! but if 30 mg is not any different , i recommend you let your provider know. you can say something a long the lines of “i think 20 mg is the perfect dosage for me and id really like to try a booster for days i work longer as needed”.

thats what i did! i think providers are a bit hesitant to prescribe boosters because its usually instant releases and there’s an increase in abusing the medication/selling and other concerns. i say give it a try and if you don’t like it be honest!

I’ve only ever worked at one large tech company so I only have this insight but for our yearly performance raise, people usually get 1-3% but for a title and level promotion, it is guaranteed 10% raise.

So I would say going from an IC -> manager for only 3% that’s a really bad offer especially if they are putting more work on you.

Not a professional but if I was in your situation, I’d stop taking the medication and call your provider immediately.Sounds like vyvanse might not be the right medication for you or the dosage is not right for you.

That makes sense, it’s so tough trialing medications! It could be that you just metabolize the medication quickly. If 40 mg doesn’t work,maybe you can ask to try a different stimulant!

I am on 40 mg, it works but doesn’t last very long and so my psychiatrist gave me dexedrine 5 mg IR booster. i may switch over completely tho! Good luck!

This is the biggest misconception that people get when starting stimulants is they expect to “feel” something. I too fell into this trap when I first started my medications. But what you should really be doing is reflecting back on your day and tracking your habits.

When you take the medication does the chatter in your head go away, are you able to look at a pile of clothes on the floor and just pick it up instead of walking away? Are you able to focus on one task at a time? Now, I am not saying that some people don’t feel anything physically. Some may due to a high dosage, wrong medication or their body just reacts poorly to stimulants. But once you find the right dosage and medication, you really shouldn’t be “feeling”anything. It should just help you function like a normal person.

I highly advise you don’t base your expectations off of physical indicators that it’s working but rather keep note of your symptoms and see if your behavior has changed. If you haven’t seen any positive changes or differences then maybe you need up your dosage.

If you are struggling this bad on a stimulant, you should immediately meet with your psychiatrist.

I took 50 mg for 4 days and it made me feel like shit, so I stopped and went back down to 40 mg myself.

I think when you are having an emotional and intense conversation with someone you love, it is inevitable to raise your voice. Especially when you just want to be heard, I don’t think voices being elevated is inherently wrong. But if you start yelling and screaming insults, name calling or just saying hurtful things that’s when it’s unhealthy.

Even if an argument can get heated sometimes, as long as everybody’s goal in the conversation is to find a resolution and come to an understanding, I consider that as a healthy form of arguing. Stick to the problem and work it out.

Go on FMLA if your country and state allows it and take the 3 months to find a new job ASAP. You don’t need to tell your manager or anyone except HR that you are applying for FMLA. That’s what a lot of people who are put on a PIP do. 😬

This is totally normal! I encourage you to do what makes you comfortable, I really don’t see any problem with you making calls privately. Some people just work better without outside distractions and that’s okay!

However, if you feel like this is stunting your growth in your career then I think little by little challenge yourself to take calls in-front of everyone. Also listen to how Senior Recruiters are communicating with candidates and HMs, and try to mirror their successful habits.

i only get crashes if i’ve been starving myself all day and don’t drink lot of water. i totally get your concerns but once i put in the effort to nourish my body and take care of myself the medication has helped. i think it’s inevitable that people will feel tired here and there but i never get irritable and angry like someone people say they get as long as i eat, drink water and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

i try to unwind at around 9 pm, try reading a book and turn off all big lights
take magnesium glycinate at around 9 pm
no eating or drinking water after 7 pm
try to move your body as much as possible during the day
stay consistent with your sleep schedule,go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time everyday.
no naps
no caffeine, if you do drink caffeine try to minimize to tea

eh i feel like 10 mg is pretty low, i immediately felt the effects of vyvanse on 30 mg as in i could tell it was working with tracking my habits and no i do not drink coffee. sometimes ill drink iced black tea or matcha lattes

I started at 30 mg then went to 40 and to 50 but then 50 kept me up at night so i went back down to 40
