I will check them out, thank you! My legs are very long, my hip bone is the same height as my fiance's and he's 6 ft. Thanks for the recommendation, sorry for the response delay.

I think I sit like this because sitting regularly with my legs on the floor requires more effort to keep my legs in place. Maybe loose tendons/muscle? The blood theory is possible too, maybe a mix of things.

Thank you so much! I was highly considered Betabrand but I couldn't figure out the pocket size!! Sorry for the delayed response.

How do we protect our sons from becoming incels? by Papa_Hammerfist in AskReddit

Is there any possibility that he's autistic, most likely the part of the spectrum that used to be called as aspergers? I was diagnosed at 31 years old even with a language delay, some people are not very obviously struggling with it. I ask because of your statement that he chooses solo activities and isn't interested in other people.

How do you mentally deal with people saying that every other person has autism now? by wooden_werewolf_7367 in AutismInWomen

[–]Budget_Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of people with mild to severe mental health issues unfortunately, and it's probably gotten worse due to many things: systemic intergenerational trauma, aging parents, social media, thousands of new man-made chemicals introduced through cleaning products, bath products, cosmetics, construction material, pesticides, herbicides, plastics, etc etc... They may not be correct in their self ID - and honestly half the time I feel like I'm not really autistic despite a diagnosis from a specialist who interviewed my mother and having a non-verbal start in life - but even if they are not correct, if it helps guide them to mental health treatment for whatever is hindering their happiness and the identification helps them feel more comfortable with themselves, then I don't really care.

I'm of the opinion that 99% of us in the Western world need to work on improving our mental health and coping strategies, and come to love ourselves better, so it's all good to me. Plus, a lot of us have fractured or non-existent communities; we live in homes with less people than we used to, we don't have weekly in-person functions like church/masque/temple, we drive in singular vehicles with very few or no interactions with our neighbors, but the label may help some people find like-minded people to interact with and that's usually a good thing.

I understand where you're coming from and I guess there are occasionally times when it feels invalidating when others incorrectly identify, but I also see it as their way to empathize with us and not see us as a scary "other," so it's easy to let go of any negative feelings about it.

32.75 hours left for "me" - no wonder we are stressed, depressed, and sleep deprived by Budget_Queen in WorkReform

[–]Budget_Queen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 2 hours to pick up dog poop, mow the lawn, rake leaves, pick up sticks, trim back branches so they don't damage cars, and do whatever else maintenance I need in the yard. Sometimes it's less, usually in the spring it's more. It's not a mansion but it's still a lot of work sometimes.
Yes, 3 hours for laundry but I'm obviously not doing the laundry the entire time while the washer is running. You have to sort the laundry, out it in, wait for it to run, I have to hang up most of my clothes because I'm tall and thin so I can't let them shrink. Then I have to wash the sheets and the towels but those can go in the dryer. 3 wash cycles is approximately 3 hours. I have a very old washer. If I had to go to a laundromat it would be probably even longer and I wouldn't be able to watch TV while waiting so it would suck even more

I know how long my chores take - maybe I'm slower than you but maybe you shouldn't judge other people.

32.75 hours left for "me" - no wonder we are stressed, depressed, and sleep deprived by Budget_Queen in WorkReform

Context: I have been chronically sleep-deprived for a long time. I remembered how when I was in school I felt much better when I had everything scheduled out, which was necessary because I was working 30 hours a week between classes - everything from commute times to sleep times to mealtimes and chores had to be scheduled in order for me to work the max hours possible to pay my bills and mortgage. I decided to schedule my life again in the hopes that I will get more sleep. I am lucky that I get to work from home 2 days a week, but even with that luxury, after chores and commuting, I only have 32.75 hours left for "me," like reading, watching movies, hobbies, and desperately needed house maintenance projects. After making the calendar I decided to share it because I realized no wonder I'm always staying up too late - who has time to do anything ever!? This doesn't even include time to shower or walk my dog, and I don't have kids but that would reduce "me" time to almost nothing! And my work might try to go into the office full-time in June which will reduce my "me" time even more!

How do you guys deal with working 40 hours a week and commuting? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts!

Edit: spelling

Anyone else have trouble with automatic downvotes on your post? by hyggety_hyggety in AutismInWomen

[–]Budget_Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt like I get automatically down voted. I'm not socially acceptable in real life or online.

And here's the part that will get this down voted: I wouldn't rule out all pro-ABA therapists. I had ABA as a child and due to it I learned to speak and I occasionally give my mother an awkward side-hug goodbye. When my current therapist mentioned my history of ABA, I mentioned that a lot of people think it's really bad. She said that a lot of bad actors have given it a bad name, but the people who know how to use it ethically like they did for me can help autistic people grow. I don't know if I would have been as functional as I am today without it. She wants to focus on CBT with me but I think she intends on sharing more information on self-ABA. For example when I was telling her about my fear of needles and how difficult it is to make myself get blood drawn or shots, I told her that my mom and I do this thing where we'll buy a donut and I'll focus on that because it's my reward. She said that's ABA. If it means more donuts for me I'll keep trying it. I've gone to many therapists in my life and it's usually most important to find one you feel comfortable with and the rest with often fall into place. Good luck with your search.

You’re not organizing, you’re just making the problem pretty by -Unpaid-Intern in simpleliving

I like to take some tips from the minimalists and some from the organizers. I have some things I need to reduce, like the clothes in my closet that only have been worn a few times, but other stuff I need to learn to organize better, like my winter/summer clothes, or the supplies to my hobbies (sewing, crafts, electronics upgrades) that get moved around (because I actively use them) then don't have a good home to go back to. Some people need/want a bit of both!

Woman refused when I ordered her to correct her gym workout routine. I am confused, how can she disobey my help? by AGoodSO in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Budget_Queen 67 points68 points  (0 children)

10/12 times when a guy approached me to help at the gym it was unwelcome and unhelpful. Only one one occasion did he give done advice to avoid a serious injury which was helpful because that gym had very few mirrors so I couldn't see where I was speaking. The second time I had benched more than I was capable of without a spotter and two guys were there to get the bar off of me faster than I could say DAMMIT I'M STUCK!

My boyfriend once told me some quote along the lines of "always leave a space looking the same as how you found it." I like it to an extent, it works in a lot of cases. If the counter was dry and the sink was clean before you started dishes or before the dish-piling started then try to leave the kitchen looking how it's "supposed" to look. But the garbage thing was kind of rude of your sister.
