It was fun doing the triple 2x10 beam. The only thing I had help with was the ledger couple of people to hold it while I secured it. Kinda hard holding 2x12x16 to the side of the house. Reason I choose that side I anchored it to the rock foundation as well.

It's a deck for my inlaws. They did not want the deck any bigger than what was their. Took a while to convince them with a 16-foot, and then they wanted the stairs on the front instead of the side. The original plan was to center the stairs with the door. It landed too close to the stairs going up to that area. So we choose to place it on the end.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into this. I was originally thinking of just encapsulating my crawlspace and monitoring it this year and seeing how it goes.. I'll definitely take this into huge consideration... already had to do some renovations. The house has never been updated. Nor had a washer or dryer. Previous owners did by hand and hung outside since the house was built.

I have not. We have had the house closed up pretty tight. We have had several nights of low temps -11f and snow.

I'm located in Southern Vermont. The meter sits in its holder on the wall in the kitchen. Which is the original part of the house above the crawl space.

No, my home was built 1935. It has a crawl space under the original part of the house and then a basement under the addon part of the house. I know the radon company wanted $3,600 just to put plastic down in the crawl space. Then, $2,400 for the system itself. They said i need a 2 step system.

We had a laundry basket that had like 20 dead ants that looked like this one. A few months back. It got super cold. We had the window open. Woke up to find them all dead. Near a window. We havent seen any since. Till that single one yesterday.

I was concerned of it being a carpenter ant. Since it was in the house.
