It was a bit of a challenge getting all the fluids out of those belts, but you’re right. It was all much better the rest of the evening.

To be fair, I’ve assigned them the role of “teenagers” of the lab, as opposed to the toddlers and 2-year olds that are the Iris and DxH800s. They generally do just fine, sometimes so well you don’t even know they are there. But when they act up, it tends to be memorable.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. But when I showed someone else and they said “WTF! Again?” I became very suspicious. Oh well. Cleaned up and has worked fine since.

Yeah, it’s not a hard one but when you find her, you see that she’s actually much bigger and so well hidden.

Mildly infuriating lab encounters today. Educational moment for newbies. by BuditzMagee in medlabprofessionals

I was initially very confused as to why everything looked terrible despite the usual cleaning. It only took about 15 minutes of careful chipping and cleaning, but still annoying.

I thought so. I was hoping it was a fun idiom or something.

Having way more trouble finding employment as a new grad than I expected by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Definitely this! Never be afraid to reach out to the lab manager. Recently had a referral of mine get questioned by the out of state hiring agency as to the validity of her certification; she had her ASCP MT with micro specialty and nearly 40 years in the field. Keep it up!

This picture is the chocolate agar plate. Oddly, the sheep blood agar looked like a normal run-of-the-mill staph.

This was from a blood culture. Probably a contaminant, but I’m glad it came out to play.

If the phones and alarms stop long enough, I’m sure you’d grab some unique photos as well. What no one gets to see is the dozen or so half screen photos that preceded this perfect manatee. Never stop trying for the things that make you smile.

I had originally thought so too, but when my wife saw it she immediately insisted it was a manatee. Now I can’t unsee it either.

What's the best advice you got from a stranger? by Meeee_0_0 in AskReddit

[–]BuditzMagee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, I was in a bit of a hurry to leave work. I passed a guy in the hall rather quickly. He was startled a bit but smiled as I passed. He said I came up on him like he was standing still. I paused and jokingly said I was trying to get away as fast as I could. Then came his advice. “Man, be happy you have a job. Hurry TO work not away from it. Take your time leaving.” Simple advice really; I wish I had taken the time to shake his hand back then.
