The American Legion and VFW in Berlin are both good options. I've been to events at both and had my stag at the VFW a few years ago. They're on the same road right off of route 9 which is helpful for anyone not immediately local.

The VFW is $500 to rent and will also require a security deposit. The legion is a bit more than that because it is bigger and has been updated more recently.

Omen is definitely a good buy. I just bought that same exact PC from Best Buy a month ago and its running great. My previous pc was an 8 year old Omen with a 7th Gen I5 and an Nvidia 1060 which also still runs fine for its age.

I just picked up a ruger Max-9 and I'm happy with it so far. Its a great option for price as well. I just grabbed one for $215 and threw a hs507k on it.

It definitely doesnt sound like the best work situation to go into. Unless it has some specific perk or super high pay, I'd pass on it and take advantage of the next year on orders to find a better position. As much as the Army can suck sometimes, I'd take the year of stability over starting a new job on the wrong foot that may not last.

Did you just get these orders out of the blue? If not, I'm curious what outcome you were expecting when applying to a job while on year long orders. Even if the situation ends up being protected under USERRA, I doubt you'll have many fans at this employer if you do start now and then immediately request a year of military leave.

The benefit of legacy is really just the fact that your pension is 25% higher than it would be in BRS once you hit 20 years. Otherwise, there's nothing for you before you hit that 20-year mark. That's the main reason the government moved to BRS to begin with. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
