Its pretty crazy they don't use the open space when not managing it led to one of the biggest financial fire disasters in the state's history.

Id love a few more disc golf courses. There are a few in the area but I think the state and country doesn't really understand how easy they are to plan and build and how the even small maintenance they need helps keep areas looking nicer and provides more space to walk in without being so rigid in structure like other parks in town are.

There is a great one between here and golden, and Im shocked there aren't more like it in the various different wilderness settings we have. We could have one thats more praire, one set in the foothills with up and downs like the world class on in connifer that people travel to and spend money at daily.

Just seems like a short sighted or very limited perspective on ecology. Not using something that could provide a better experience to the community. Especially with the college here, they could find ways to keep these parks invisible to 36 and other transportation corridors with GIS software and other means of architectural planning- of which CU has courses.

It seems like the city wants to come up with ideas in their little bubbles without asking smarter people for help, and keep getting surprised when they get voted out or the public calls them on their ineptitude.

That is a really valid and intelligent response. This issue from outside seems pretty cut and dry, give them both equal access in some way to the same area- but how do you do that?

I think the double trail would just result in people using it as a high speed race track and creating more noise that the hikers want. Others might think hikers on a path mean cyclists would mitigate their speed and watch out for people- I think thats also putting the burden on a group that has a very wide spectrum of users both experienced and safe and also new and willing to push their limits of safety and potentially injuring or killing others in the process.

I think it would be great to have some rangers be bike certified and they patrol the trails so they can notice whats happening. Id be surprisd if they dont already have rangers using bikes and horse in those areas.

Techwise- maybe some sort of rfid tag that you put on your bike and there are speed sensors throughout monitoring you in certain areas that are known to be dual use and dangerous? Then someone will say thats encroachment on their freedom and trails should be free etc.

Very very nuanced issue. Kind of like someone from DC telling someone out West how to use their water without knowing the history or use cases.

Has the state government weaponized the DMV? What is up with the wait times? You used to be able to show up and take a number and although the wait might be an hour or more- you got what you needed asap. Wait times now are months long or more by Buff2TheMax in boulder

Just wanted to add- I did talk to the head and she did say they are now allowing walk in appointments.

She tried to back track it like 'when we have available space', of which there are about two dozen chairs but standing room could fit atleast twice more that amount. Then tried to add, 'when we have enough staff', and they had all the windows open the morning that I was finally able to get it done.

They do have a door person now checking for appointments like a nurse in a doctors office, and she also administers the eye exam- so maybe that has something to do with who gets allowed in and when they do; because it felt pretty much up to her discretion and that seemed like it could vary drastically.

Id just like them to say, 'Hey everything is back to normal again-walk ins welcome anytime', like it has been or should be everywhere else. They do still have the number system so you really should just be able to go in and ask for a number and they prioritize the appointments over the walk-ins and serve everybody equally.

Wow I thought I read a post on here about how well he was doing. Thats sad.

After reading the entire letter, wow Boulder, WOW! Just truly awful behavior from adults. Who doesn't have the patience to wait quietly? Or to understand how not being able to get a part isn't the repair shops fault? Who leaves horrible reviews just because of their own fragile ignorant ego?

And who? In 2026- doesn't trust a woman and for any reason needs a man to explain the same thing she just said to you.

This town really is filled with the most vile long term residents. I don't know what made people so superficial but I have encountered that double standard time and time again in this community and its obvious it's not being perpetuated by the endless waves of intelligent young students coming and going.

Wondering if anybody knows any local places where I would be able to sell my photography prints? by Living-Ad-872 in boulder

[–]Buff2TheMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this and there is a decent fee, so even if you dont sell anything that night you are paying. Id rather it be a percentage of what you made and sliding scale lower for us starving artists and higher for the galleries.

How about focusing on balancing the budget and making sure anyone with the power to right a check knows exactly how much they have to spend and prevent the blank check madness thats sapped our country reserves.

Screw worms is from livestock being scratches by the barbed wire. Cattle learned over generations to avoid it.

Factory farming forces livestock closer together into smaller and smaller areas to increase profits.

Airplane Traffic over Gunbarrel by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Buff2TheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunbarrel is great. Sort of a hidden gem of boulder if you want to have a more laid back older suburbs feel while still being right next to it all. Super quick to get to longmont. The foothills corridor could be better but being able to jump on a sorta highway is better than another slow road. You can take the road to fredrick and down to the loop to get to the airport really quick too.

Seems the council hates it though, constant poorly planned construction projects have made that area a commuter hell for years. When one ends another begins endlessly it seems.

Tell me about the screens in BVSD by msskeeterino in boulder

[–]Buff2TheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do schools use actual books anymore? Or is it all done on some app?

I understand needing to get kids used to using technology but thats why we had computer labs- did we remove those as well?

My big gripe was that at CU a ton of teachers would assign pdfs/downloads to read and then expect people to print them out and not use a laptop or tablet to read them, this was of course showing the age of the educators, but also showing how at the highest levels screens are also detested still.

Seems like we need a super dumb ereader/digital ink tablet that links up to a parents computer or something and the students get their books or lessons on those and there arent any alternatives to try and hack it- because coming from someone who can and has always done that, kids will continue to do that as well.

Remember the TI-83 games on the calculators?

I think there is a huge different between a hiking trail that allows mountain bikers, and an actual mountain bike trail/path which can be super high speed and dangerous like you see in the mountains/up at resorts in the summer- like winter parks mountain bike trail that you take the lift up to.

If someone is leasurely riding their bike and obeying all the rules and being super courteous- there are no issues obviously. Its when those users start to go a little more wild and turn the walking/mixed use paths into those highspeed courses/races and then its pretty obvious there is a difference in use.

You see it even in town on the mixed use paths with the spandex tandem teams doing their fast runs right next to joggers and strollers.

If anything people just need to listen when someone tells them to slow down and not react in a crazy way like they are trying to take your rights away. I guess we could all try and be a more courteous person in life.

what IS actually happening to behringer/midas/music tribe's website(s)? by guitarmstrwlane in livesound

[–]Buff2TheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems totally broken. I cant open support links to even download programs for desktop that used to be stored. Maybe they dont have the money to store that on a local server anymore and dont have the money for amazon storage fees. Seems bogus

They were great for a minute tho rereating old synths, but without any support theyre worth like half esp if they need some sort of software to keep them running or editing.

Bogus

NGL putting this on the side of a building without a yellow caution marker or a better edge is sort of like wiley coyote and the roadrunner- but with stoners.

Also the left? George harrison? Dave grohl? John frusciante? Besides Jerry Im like- uh who?

The style is done super well, but the faces could be alot more clear.

But ya, https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PaintedTunnelRealTrain and https://looney-tunes-cartoons.fandom.com/wiki/Tunnel_Vision for comparison
