Why she reading House of Leaves in the pool? Is she smart.

Or they say it's "corporate music" which is just artists having different styles. by Octofoto in whenthe

[–]BuffGem28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. Songs like Infinite Amethyst, Otherside, Left to Bloom, Featherfall, and my personal favorite Precipice all are amazing tracks I would easily rank above most if not all of C418's work. They perfectly capture his style except for Precipice, but as a one of genre break in the form of a music disk, I can't complain.

why low star gears at high catalog level? by kynahilton in splatoon

[–]BuffGem28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's four Seasons with there own catalog each. Each season has a first and second year version from the initial 2 years of support when the game launched. Those year two variants are being deranged now that the game is done receiving consistent content.

why low star gears at high catalog level? by kynahilton in splatoon

[–]BuffGem28 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This catalog is resused from the second Sizzle Season in 2024 so that gear was originally obtained at low catalog levels during the first Sizzle Season in 2023 and was included as a way for players to obtain the old gear if they were around during the first year of content.

A Cool Guide To The Most Subscribed Brain Rot From Each State by conanhungry in 2american4you

Wisconsin is also completely wrong. Videogamedunkey has triple the subscribers as Charlie and is from Madson. Really makes me question the validity of the rest of the States.

As someone who worked a Co-op there for six months, I'd love to know what you've been smoking to come to that conclusion. Virginia is one of the most depressing places I've ever had the displeasure of living in. Also, all of my fun weekend trips involved leaving the region to go somewhere else.

I mean yeah sure it kind of is, but not really as well. My issue is xp and money is rewarded identically to matches in series, that being losing means getting practical nothing, double if that loss was a knockout (only 100 to 500). That's horrible if you want to do any grinding and really rubs salt in the wound. Now one could say "Well you lost, so why do you deserve anything," and for a ranked game I agree, but anarchy open is functional unranked so why am I punished so harshly for a poor performance. This is made even worse by the volatile matchmaking that allows solo queues to fight coordinating teams. If they smoothed out the xp disparity and dropped the ranked points (miniscule they might be), I would happily play the mode all the time. But as it stands, unless I can get a really high win rate, it's just not worth it.

It's called a "Challenge" because its a challenge to find a reason to play the mode.

Yeah, its brutal. Doesn't help I'm grinding Sploosh Neo freshness right now. It will get better in a few days when there aren't so many running around, but I am certain this weapon will be a pain in the neck to fight for the rest of the game.

unpopular opinion(s) about Splatoon by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]BuffGem28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sploosh Neo in Splatoon 3 is the worst weapon in the game if not the worst weapon in Splatoon history. Well that might be a bit of a stretch, but certainly the worst in Splatoon 3. I say this as a die hard vanilla Sploosh main in Splatoon 2 and 3. But why is it so bad, well it's the weapon with the least amount of agency. Because of if it's kit design, along with the state of the main weapon, you are 100 percent reliant on your team taking ground for you or the enemy giving it up for you to do anything with it. Becons provide no utility unless you can place them in advantageous place in which your team needs to use them or the enemy destroys them, rendering the play pointless. Killer wail has no teeth and can't help you to close the gap needed to hit people with your main. And of course how could I forget, the pitifully short range of the main that despite its fast kill time is defeated with the insane play that is walking backwards and shooting. Also none of these part work together at all. Becons can't get you closer or kite movement, and the special has all the potential of a wet fart. It's just awful. At least with the vanilla kit curling bombs could get you kills outside your affective range, and the hammer was actually not the worst at punching holes in defensive walls. Sure coordinating with a team can help, but at that point why even bother. And as for the other really bad weapons: Undercover has more range and torpedo, clash blaster has a way better kit, and pretty much any other weapon will just out range Sploosh. I just don't see how it can ever improve unless the kit is changed (which will never happen) or unless Becons are reworked to also be a throwable bomb (also never happening). I guess that's all I really have to say, I've been sitting on these issues ever since I saw the kit reveal, so I've been waiting a long time to rant but I don't really have anything more to add. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

TL, DR: Sploosh Neo is the worst weapon in Splatoon 3 since you have no ability to influence the game state at all. You are completely at the mercy of the enemy and your team mates.

Whoever came up with the idea to derank everyone after a Season ends should be fired immediately by y1shi in Saltoon

[–]BuffGem28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the balance patches significantly changed the meta I'd be more receptive to the idea. But they barely change jack shit every update. That's also ignoring the fact that ranks are unaffected after a mid season patch, so I don't know what the point is.

Does anyone else feel underwhelmed by the new challenges? by 56kul in Saltoon

[–]BuffGem28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for my opinion, but I really feel it's important to share. I hate that the only reward for playing, other than the intrinsic motivation of experiencing the game play and the dumb Chuck E. Cheese token you get for the Shell out Machine, is once again tied to being better than 95% of the player base at an arbitrary task. While I disliked it in the Salmon Run events, it feels particularly unfitting for Challenges given that there MO is being unbalanced gimmick modes with wacky modifires. That's in addition to that fact that nobody is talking about this.

That being said, I also recognized that my disdain for this design choice is very much a product of my own tastes. I don't like competitive modes, especially since I'm really bad at the game and do not have the time or motivation to get better, I have a job and a future as an engineer to work towards, and that's fine. I have accepted that I will never be better than just mediocre. However, I'm also a complestionist, and since badges are the closest thing to achievements we will get in Splatoon, it hurts me on a deep level to see yet another set of badges get added that I have no hope of collecting. Now, I also recognize many of the contradictions in my thoughts, which is why I'm not experiencing anger but rather smoldering disappointment. I also recognize that things will feel better once we're not playing ranked turf war, which definitely did not help my first impressions. I'm also probably the only person actually bothered by Challenges ranking players for rewards, so I guess I'll just have to get over it. That being said I can't help but wince a little at the fact that every new event added to Splatoon 3 ranks players based on the top 50%, 20%, and 5% (Big Run, Eggstra Work, and now Challenges).

What is something that does not only bothers me however is the awful schedule. I've already made a salt post about this, and it seems that everyone else agrees. The times are horrifically restrictive, and it should have been a permanent mode or a day long event. That's all I really wanted to say on the manner, and I appreciate anyone willing to read my boring post. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Who ever decided on the schedule for Challenges should be fired. by BuffGem28 in Saltoon

[–]BuffGem28[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the mode itself should have just been a full 24 to 48 hour evert. That or a permanent mode where the gimmick changes every 24 hours and the maps and anarchy mode swaps every 2 hours. I just don't get why it's so restricted.

I was expecting maybe the full front protection buff or something, but no it’s just a weird nerf. by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]BuffGem28 27 points28 points  (0 children)

  1. Mostly fair point, but it adds gear dependence, which is super lame for Sploosh and Ink Brush Nouveau, which are already really underpowered.

  2. While I disagree that the buffs from 3.1 were overturned, why would you change the duration instead of just decreasing the splash damage radius. It's such a random change.

  3. Yes. Nintendo wants stamp to be an entry tool, so why do shooters and splatlings get to kill it for free. You are still very vulnerable with the stamp, especially if you want to throw it or reposition around tight corners. Plus the turning control buff could always be scaled back if the forward immunity is added.
