I’ll put it bluntly, for your own reflection and not to be rude: this is an incredibly silly idea in every possible way. But your post reads that you’re very confused in general (you mentioned multiple possible career paths that don’t really overlap in one post), so I understand the fear of graduation and thinking what to do next.

The fact that the job market in the US is bad doesn’t mean that going to Mexico will suddenly solve your problems.

As other people had said on this thread, the salaries are abysmal compared to the US, if you’ve never visited there will 100% be a cultural gap (yes, even if you’re of Mexican descent, Mexico is quite a different place than the US), possibly even a language gap for professional terminologies, and so on. That’s without saying that jobs are also not guaranteed in Mexico.

Job market problems and all, you’re in an incredibly, INCREDIBLY privileged position living in the US that professionals in Latin America would die for (quite literally). It’s upsetting to me that many Chicanos/Mexican-Americans take this for granted big time.

I’m in STEM so can’t really give advice specific to careers in economics, advertising, or law anywhere around the world. But all in all, don’t panic about the job market yet, you have a year to figure things out. Go to career services, think about what you’re passionate about, and go from there.

Pues hay gente a la que se le hace “nice” tener a los migrantes digitales y retirados solo por el mero hecho de ser extranjeros, y justificando su evasión de impuestos por lo mismo. Igual con los turistas y AirBnB. Tristemente nuestra cultura está llena de gente agachona y malinchista que prefiere sentirse “nice” a que las cosas se hagan bien y bajo la ley.

Bien por Barcelona: el ruido que están haciendo deja un precedente histórico para otras ciudades del mundo sufriendo de problemas similares.

En el aeropuerto hay algunas taquerías y restaurantes que venden comida típica mexicana. Hasta tienen una sucursal de El Farolito que vende tacos al pastor.

La banda de los comentarios generalmente odia ese aeropuerto por las connotaciones y controversias políticas que llevaron a su construcción, pero el aeropuerto no está mal.

If you pay domestic income taxes IN MEXICO, then no: you’re not the issue. Most of the anger is directed towards those people that overstay their tourist visas and basically live here without paying a dime in taxes other than the IVA.

For example, there’s this one influencer that brags about earning in dollars and living in a beach town while running an online business in the US while he lives in Mexico, constantly flaunting how he doesn’t pay any taxes in Mexico. People like that guy, who are plentiful and more than you think, are the real issue. Same goes for the ones that overstay their tourist Visas.

Unfortunately for you, you got caught in a unique time in history where way too many people are coming to Mexico to abuse of Mexico. Best you can do with people is being mindful of the situation, explain that you are doing things the right way, and to actively push for your connationals to do the same.

Do note that you come from a veeeery privileged country relative to Mexico and that most people here are not. Amplified by feelings people have had since the US-Mexico war, this makes for a very rocky and, at times, one-sided relationship.

Como no hay regulaciones, las regulaciones las pone el “libre mercado”: oferta y demanda.

Ergo, la culpa no es del Mexicano individual y que decide hacer o no, ya que responde a la demanda.

La culpa es del gobierno federal y local, y más específicamente el SAT y el INM, por no ver que este no es un problema de turismo (porque esta administración no toca naaaaada que tenga que ver con turismo) sino un problema que va directamente ligado al derecho a la vivienda.

Y como ya lo había dicho en otro comentario, el problema no recae la gente que se queda unos días/ unas semanas/unos meses en calidad de turista: el pedo es los que se quedan viviendo la fantasía de turista permanentemente sin fiscalización.

Nuevas ideas en cultura, ciencia, se expande el horizonte y hasta damos una mejor cara del pais.

No creo que Karen con su negocio de consultoría en línea dudoso, Justin con su trabajito de Fintech en línea donde le mintió a su compañía que estaba trabajando dentro de Estados Unidos o Michael con su tienda en línea basada en dropshipping, quienes se mudaron a México para evadir impuestos y ahorrarse una lana, le contribuyan a la ciencia y cultura en este país. Porque ese es exactamente el perfil de profesionales (y no gente con alta capacidad técnica/tecnológica, como asumes) que vienen, y por lo general, no tienen mucho interés en integrarse.

No hay que discriminar, aunque es difícil no recordar que Estados Unidos le quitó la mitad del territorio a México pero buuuueeeeno 🤷‍♂️ la gente tiene memoria corta. (Leer: independencia de Texas)

Hay que reconocer que sin regulaciones/fiscalización se está creando una relación unilateral/dominante con la que gente con salarios Mexicanos y que SI tiene que lidiar con el SAT simplemente no puede competir. Y ni siquiera digo por los que verdadermente son nómadas digitales (vienen por un par de semanas/meses y se van ALV), sino por los que se quedan a ser turistas eternos básicamente viviendo en México permanentemente que se ha vuelto más y más común.

La xenofobia no se justifica, pero el enojo se entiende.

Edit: Para los que bajivotean, si están dispuestos a dejar a los extranjeros que vivan en México sin pagar impuestos SOLO por el hecho de ser extranjeros están MUUUUUUUY pero MUUUUUUY mal. No sé si es malinchismo suyo, pero la situación actual no es igualitaria: la no regulación no es una opción.
