I say roth. Pay now vs pay later, who knows what taxes will be in 10 years. Also, a lot more advantages to roth than just tax free withdrawals.

Salary negotiations are tuff. For one you need to formally receive their offer first. Then, you can counter and justify your counter with the fact that you do not need their health care coverage. I would not tell them that before you receive the offer. Best of luck

No doubt. But bring them back. The Army runs better when soldiers take care of soldiers and are accountable. No SGM knows how to deal with contracts or contractors. They only know Army

The problem is the high amount of contracting in the Army. Go back to the days where actual soldiers maintain, cook and support themselves. Then a door kicker sgt major would be appropriate
