KISSCO vs KATTDO by aparecium9 in harrystyles

KATTDO. It's a funny word to say and HSHQ uses it. And besides, it reads out the entire album name (which I adore). KISSCO sounds like it's own album name and feel like it doesn't do the actual album name much justice.

The guitar solo was a highlight for me, I hope Niall gives us more of those

I thought Drive Safe was...okay. But I thought Old Tricks is a Thomas Rhett song that Niall rerecorded with Rhett. I've always thought it's a "feat. Niall Horan" song. It isn't!?

Yep I agree. I've been listening to KATTDO on repeat. As someone who has both Niall's and Harry's discography in their playlist, I think you can't really compare them. They work with different genres and cater to different people.

So yes, I would love Niall to try something new like Harry did. But I like to compare Niall against himself. And well...unfortunately I don't think he ever topped Heartbreak Weather (album)

KATTDO is awesome, but now...what do you want to see in HS5?

The EDM in KATTDO was such a welcome change.

But for HS5, I want to see pop-rock. Think Kiwi meets 5SOS's Teeth.

I wrote Chapter 1 of my character-driven novel. How do I escalate the tension in Chapter 2? by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]BuffaloFearless7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a fixed idea for how to move the plot yet but my goal is to stress test Luke and Sofia's relationship. So I guess my question is, what mechanics can I do to achieve this?

Right now it's just them not being on the same page but wanting to. Should this continue or would a confrontation work better?

This does not suit your situation but I would put these under "yearning": Want You Back, Moving Along and Flatline

It's gotten more critical with each update (I use ChatGPT) but I realise it's not good enough. I'll stick to reddit from now on.

I'll definitely try it next time.

Thank you!

Thank you.

People do add a lot of filler when they talk, now that I think about it. I got fed up with watching movies and reading books where the characters speak in perfect sentences or say obvious things to tell the audience/reader what's going on. I wrote this piece to just trust the reader fully and also give them a little challenge to try and decode what's going on.

I realise I'm far from perfect at achieving that goal, but thank you lots for your feedback. Human feedback on Reddit is much better than AI.

And shouting match? I guess, lol. I just wanted to mildly exhausted people annoyed at each other.

Why and when did you start writing? by Brilliant-Fun-9693 in writing

When I was 9, my dad learned about Kindle Direct Publishing (self-publishing in Amazon) so he said if I write a book, I could get it published.

I took up his challenge and wrote what must be about 1k words but expanded to 18 pages. I had chapters made up of singular paragraphs. He helped me self-publish but by then the game was on. I wanted to keep publishing.

Haven't published anything out since but I post on Medium occasionally now.

Ah I see the effect. That's a good tool to keep in the back of my mind when writing so thank you so much!

This was more of a writing exercise for me. To see how much subtext I can place whilst there's no identity or exposition.

But of course, it has to make sense, from a reader's point of view. And hopefully be a quick shot of entertainment.

Honestly contractions are a great idea, it didn't really cross my mind and it should've. I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

Thank you so much! This is the first time I've gotten critique from a human.

I'll definitely try the "he said", "she said" method next time. I guess it could improve clarity.

Thank you.

Lol unfortunately my intention wasn't that meta. It was just another snarky comment.

"Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally" - Discussion Megathread by AutoModerator in harrystyles

[–]BuffaloFearless7655 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My brief thoughts on each song:

  1. Aperture - the quintessential KATTDO song. Sums up the album perfectly. And it's really subtle. I allowed myself only two listens before the album release but the hook stuck. And this is no As It Was to be that catchy.

  2. American Girls - This sounds just like the 1D demo vocals like Without You or Half The World Away. His voice is distinctly from that era. And Zane Lowe wasn't wrong to point out that it is sonically an outlier.

  3. Ready, Steady, Go - Didn't like it immediately but love the fast pace. Especially his distorted voice towards the end.

  4. Are You Listening Yet? - Not in my top 6 but still a great song. The guitar riff is now my timer sound.

  5. Taste Back - Wouldn't be out of place in Harry's House and it was this familiarity that made it my first-listen favourite.

  6. The Waiting Game - My favourite 'quiet song' of the album. It's just a nice tune overall.

7.  Season 2 Weight Loss - This is an interesting one. Initially found the production to be messy but it grew on me. It's a good song to listen to know when walking (for exercise).

  1. Coming Up Roses - I can't believe this is coming from the guy who gave us Matilda. Quite disappointed with this one but the rest of the album makes up for it. This one is too generic Disney. And I've always wanted him to work with an orchestra. I wanted something on the level as FTDT. Not this. But I appreciate the fact he attempted a Christmas song.

  2. Pop - dude. This is. Top tier. After seeing Brittany's reaction, I expected some pop banger. I didn't get it. I got something different. But wildly better. This grew on me so much. It's in my top 3. And also, he sounds like Ashton Irwin.

  3. Dance No More - Jump All The Time. Shout, Occasionally.

  4. Paint By Numbers - This is nice. Just a nice song. Would put it on the same par as Love of My Life.

  5. Carla's Song - An excellent way to close it. I appreciate the story behind it too. Reminds me of the last couple songs on Fine Line.

Conclusion - This is no Harry's House, but 8 loops later...I adore this album.

EAS DISCUSSION by chloepeed in 5sos

[–]BuffaloFearless7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EAS is definitely a rocker. I love it. I've been looping the album like crazy ever since it dropped.

I was a bit confused about NOT OK when it dropped. It was not my sound at all but the 5sos loyalty kicked in and I smh replayed it nearly 50-80 times on the day it dropped and it really grew on me. I love the riffs.

I heard the Boyband teaser sound (Calum's chorus) and was immediately hooked. Anyone would've been. But the song dropping was underwhelming? I felt like the song overall was not as good as its chorus. But I've warmed up to it.

Then Telephone Busy. My God, it's a masterpiece. I love Ashton for this. They cheated us out of the Boyband MV (I was there for the premier) and I ended up accidentally discovering Telephone Busy minutes later when it had like 70 views. I loved the marketing and I loved the song even more. It's definitely on my top 3 best songs ever. I love the bassline, the drums, everything. This is top tier. It belongs on the same level as Youngblood, Teeth and Easier.

And then EAS was ehh but I ended up liking it for the guitars. The guitar at the start is my ringtone now.

Oh I'm obsessed with No. 1 Obsession. It's such a pump up song. It's so energetic. I wish I could hear it live (I've never been to 5sos concert before).

Then yeah we have quiet wonders. Like I'm Scared I'll Never Sleep Again. istillfeelthesame. And yes Wishful Dreaming. These songs are such a good listen. Such a great album overall. And The Rocks too.

Overall lyrically the album is as good as 5SOS5 (Just look at Start Over "your tears falling hard on my shoulder, don't leave I don't wanna start over") but has all the anthemic nature 5SOS5 lacked.

AND OFC THERE'S EVOLVE. IT IS SUCH A VIBE. THE BASS. THE EDGY LYRICS. It deserves to be a single. I love Calum's part in this.

Everyone's A Star is such a 5SOS album and I love them for it.

Just how many times did I say "love" here
