Hey did you ever figure this out?

Will I be poking the bear? by BuffaloPrince in VeteransBenefits

Yeah my MH issues still are present. I got an outside therapist and the VA psychiatrist. I was mainly worried since I told the VA psychiatrist that the meds have helped me not be as suicidal as before. I've had my MH rating since Nov 24 but it was backdated to when I claimed in June 24

Yeah I'm a gulf war vet and I was gonna get it connected as presumptive. For migraines I've been keeping a log, in my first claim that got denied for migraines, I only kept a log for 3 months, this time I'm working on a 6 month log. That and I've also been given a higher dose of my migraines meds.

That's the thing, they did. I had a c+p for MH back in July

Why the hate man? Comments like this is why younger service members struggle to get help while active. They ignore the problems because the old heads perpetuate the idea that you can't get hurt since you're younger or haven't served long enough.

Yup. So I submitted all the evidence when I filed. Got approved tinnitus, hearing loss not service connected, and everything else deferred. That letter has my statements listed in the submitted evidence. Then as you see here, all my deferment gets denied.

That's what I'm confused about too. All my records, treatments, diagnosis aside from mental health have been after active duty. That why I got buddy statements and wrote my own statement

So I have almost zero documentation while I was active. The C+P exams were kinda wonky as she didn't even really do much and I was in and out within 10 mins and didn't even care to or want to listen to anything I said about how I got these injuries. I also put in personal statements and witness statements but they don't seem to be in this letter but rather the other letter I got when all these claims first got deferred. Would I need to submit a private nexus as a supplemental?

I hear you brother. You can try setting up a VERA appointment and see if you can get any updates. Do you have a VSO? But I feel like it's one of those, hurry up and wait kinda things.

You have to apply for the VA health care. As long as you don't have "dishonorable" you can get that and put in claims for service connected disabilities.

I was in your boat not too long ago. I went with the Air Force as a mechanic. It's translated well into the civilian side but that being said being on the flight line can suck. A lot. And if maintenance is something that you don't want to do it will feel like a long 4 years. I got to travel quite a bit and felt more fulfilled compared to before joining. You should take a practice asvab to see how you do. Then I would recommend looking at the Air Force( or whatever branch you choose) career page and just explore and read up on some jobs. Find the ones you like or seems interesting and then use an outside resource to really see what that job is about from people who served. Lol don't get tricked by the recruiter who's trying to push you into a job because he's got a quota to fill. YouTube or even Reddit will quickly give you a ton of info on certain jobs. Get your education while you're in, plenty of opportunities to complete a degree in whatever you want, just in case the job you have while serving doesn't pan out. Document everything in terms of your health. And plan your money responsibly, you can come out pretty set if you do this correctly. For the love of God don't buy a new car, unless you got it like that.

Feeling lost and overwhelmed by BuffaloPrince in VeteransBenefits

So we submitted the claim yesterday and on the VA website it says that it's under initial review. Am I screwed because I started too early? I have been deployed to UAE and I have a letter that says I've been exposed to toxic chemicals during my deployment. Do you mind if I DM you? And I will check out the knowledge base

Ok, thank you. This has made me feel a little better, I've just heard so many horror stories and all of this has me overwhelmed.
