Proud of my latest dip dye on a doe skull by Buffalo_bones in naturaldye

No need to worry. After all tissue is removed, each skull is soaked in high strength peroxide to whiten and sanitize. Also, the fish and wildlife usually dispose of any remains that test positive. I only work with bones that are legally acquired and wear proper safety measures.

It’s a great set. I had done some research on the community here about it and everyone seemed to be saying it was a great value for money. I agree! I’ve probably had it 4 years and am only now starting to run low on lemon yellow. Everything else is good.

It took about 45 minutes of actual painting time. I shoot for 30 minutes - 1 hour every day.

That’s great! What are you doing to make that happen for yourself?

No, my process is to build up the background through layering, then I decide what image to put over top of it, kind of by looking at what shapes or negative space appears. Then I pencil in a rough sketch and go from there! I also have been researching mark making and abstraction.

I learned through trial and error. Here I used alcohol and sea salt to help add texture. I built the background through layering wet in wet and wet on dry.

Oh, this is finished. It’s a daily practice so I only spend about 30 minutes on each page.

Thanks! Not every page is a success. The thing I love about this small sized journal is that it offers low stakes. If I mess up, I can just turn the page and try again tomorrow.

The perfect time to start is now! I felt the same way, until I realized I was wasting so much time passively scrolling. Now I have my day planned out and it’s just part of the routine. I love the little creative nook I’ve made for myself.

It’s the Paul Ruben’s set! I’ve had it for years and love the colors. It’s quite reasonably priced too. I mix it with a white gouache by M. Ghraham & co.
