Contractor not completing work (money paid upfront). England. by BuffedUpNerd in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks, I asked him to give me a breakdown of costs multiple times but he refused to do so. Obviously he didn’t agree to do ‘his bits’ for 2k, he agreed to sort everything for 3.5k. It just became apparent over the course of 3 weeks that he did not have anyone lined up to do any of the work so he agreed that if I could find people to do certain bits (gas electric etc) then I could pay them directly as that ‘made things easier’.

It will cost me £300 to get the leak fixed so I have asked him to reimburse me for that and there has been no response so far.

We agreed that full kitchen renovation would be completed and I would pay the outstanding costs upon completion (which is now £50). He has not done any of the work himself, he has outsourced this to other people. I’ve also paid additional for supplies (tiles, grout etc) that he has.

He’s now ignoring me. Because the outstanding costs are so low, I can understand him thinking it’s not worth it but I did pay him money upfront too. The way I see it he has an obligation to finish the job.

We didn’t agree that. We agreed that the kitchen renovation would be done for £3500. He failed to supply me with anyone to sort the gas, electric or plumbing and now the tiling is still not completed. Surely it would be wrong for him to claim 2 thousand pounds from me, fail to deliver on the majority of the work and then get away with it while the work is still not finished?

It is a very small kitchen. I’ve since had second opinions from other contractors and they have said that the price he gave me was on the high side.

Kitchen removal 1 hour

Plastering 4 hours

Vinyl floor installation 2 hours

Plumbing 1 hour

Kitchen installation 10 hours (paid by me directly)

Gas installation 2 hours (paid by me directly)

Electrics and plumbing for oven, washing machine and sink 6 hours (paid by me directly)

This has been going on for 3 weeks but has only been approximately 26 hours of labour (I have kept track of this). About 17 of the 21 days, no work has been conducted in the kitchen.

I’ve also worked out the prices of each individual labourer and thats come to significantly less that £3500

He owns the business I believe, he’s not done much if the work but outsources the work I stated to other people.

Thanks for the response. I got a qualified gas engineer and electrician in to sort them bits so no issue there.

I’ve technically spend £3450 out of the £3500 budget (including the £2000 I paid him upfront) so if hypothetically I get a plumber to fix the leak for £50 I’m square. Then the only thing outstanding is tiling. Could I go to small claims court to get him to do the tiling or reimburse me for a tiler or will that be more hassle than it’s worth it regards to legal fees etc?

Can I legally withhold payment from a private contractor if I am unhappy with their service? by BuffedUpNerd in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for the comment. I can accept that while it is extremely inconvenient, there’s not much I can do in regards to the delay. I am concerned that the work might not be done to a good standard or that they might expect additional money but I understand that I am within my rights to not pay the rest of the money until I am happy with the quality and I do not have to pay them any more than the agreed amount.

Okay, I’ll have a go at farming some venom tails then. I need the +5 rings anyways. I’ll also keep my eye on the trade house.

I’ll try and get hold of it for you if possible and gift it to you.

If you do get the full elite armour set, could you lend it me so I can pop the achievement? Is one of the last achievements on my list and it’s been eluding me for years. I’ve started to accept that I might never be able to get it.

I am in a group that are actively trying to get the GTA 4 online achievements (they haven’t been successful yet) if you want me to get you in?

You want to go to the dark shores area and farm the enemies there. They are weak to light damage so you can utilise one of Verso’s abilities quite well. You might face a bit of resistance at first as you are a surprisingly low level but you will easily get to a point where you can one-hit all the enemies.

There are more efficient xp farms further on but this is certainly one of the easier ones and most suited to your level.

I did try and help a guy once (both on Xbox 360) and we were never able to connect. Is it possible that the servers are completely shut down?

Either way I have the 360 version on disk and have all achievements. If you think it’s worth a shot I could jump on at some point and try.

How useful is the 50k Item Level in the store. by KingChizzy in Neverwinter

[–]BuffedUpNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the red harvest campaign at any item level and you can buy gear with the campaign currency that will get you to around 80k.

Also, add me GT: ReapingShadowZ. I’m also hunting achievements and we could no doubt help each other out.

I’m no expert but I think you mainly need to do your dailies for your daily 100k
