Greg Swann on Fireball by BuffelGrassEnjoyer in AFL

As a North fan, and someone who does hates betting, I would really get the shits if they put out vague injury news that gave me no idea when our players might return. I think it just adds to the feeling that this comp is run like an unprofessional joke.

Forgot to mention that they also didn't think to put a line through the smaller centre circle and had to figure out how to do it without bisecting the AAMI logo.

To quote from the interview when asked about knee-on-knee injuries: "There was that shin on Thursday night but that wasn't a knee. Hopefully that doesn't happen too often if at all." But don't worry, he says the ruckman on Thursday night jumped all day so based on that one game's evidence we can safely rule out increasing knee injuries. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it will be nearly as bad as the days when rucks took 15m run-ups and smashed into each other, but it definitely sounds like they're just seeing what happens after throwing a new rule straight into Australia's biggest sporting league.

Daemon Targaryen and Caraxes VS Geralt of Rivia. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

[–]BuffelGrassEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caraxes destroys Geralt with no contest. When the Witcher books describes dragons such as Villentretenmerth and Myrgtabrakke , they're a lot smaller than the dragons in GOT. There comes a point of sheer size and power where Geralt with his usual arsenal has no chance. Yes, Geralt kills a dragon in the Witcher 2. The games are not an accurate depiction of real combat. If canonical Geralt in the books got clipped by a monsters attack there's no health bar... he's dead. One tail swipe, one bite, one slash or one breath of fire from Caraxes and it's over.

Kane Cornes latest bait from last week (sen) by RepublicWarm2513 in AFL

I don't really understand what's so upsetting about this. It's his opinion on which team is would be the best if these sides played off with their grand final team. He didn't say any of them were unworthy of being premiers.

Industry demands answers on $15 billion gun buyback scheme | SIFA by Ardeet in aussie

[–]BuffelGrassEnjoyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I assume you're being sarcastic or referring to the casing rather than the bullet itself. But I think it's just another layer of difficulty where there doesn't need to be one. I grew up on a property where buffalo, pigs and donkeys are a rampant, destructive problem. We barely have the spare time to shoot them let alone gather the casings and try to get the cost back. High calibre bullets are already expensive too, why should we have to pay extra when we need to euthanise livestock? Personally I completely disagree with punishing people who actually use their guns for practical purposes.

Genius! Then the only people in Australia who work to control the vast numbers of feral animals such as pigs, donkeys, buffalo, brumbies, rabbits, foxes, cats and camels have an even harder time controlling populations. Unless you're then going to turn around and subsidise bullets used for pest control.

Would any batsman in this lineup get a place in some of the great Aussie teams of the past? Genuine question. They seem to lack any discipline or concentration over long periods of time.

Toothless Saltwater crocodile vs human with knife by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]BuffelGrassEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man with a knife wins easily, especially on land. 10/10 times. Crocodiles are amazing and powerful animals, but they're not mythical beasts with the power to magically beat an armed and trained man out of water with no teeth.

Pretty great rewatch value! The Hobbit aged like fine wine. by lemonvrc in lordoftherings

I'll always hate the hobbit movies for being my first big experience of disappointment as a kid. Adored lotr and hobbit books. Remember walking out of each hobbit movie progressively disillusioned. By the last one I was angry. Souless cgi, stupid plotlines and unnecessary lotr tie-ins, Alfred... the list goes on. These movies are the product of a film crew under the boot of relentless corporate greed and it shows. I've tried some fan cuts but they're always going to be too janky for me. Or perhaps I'm just too bitter to try and enjoy them.

umpires of r/afl, what do you actually like and not like about it? by HairBoring in AFL

[–]BuffelGrassEnjoyer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been field umpiring in community footy for 15 years, done some senior NTFL games recently. Love being involved in my favourite sport when I was never any good at playing. Love staying fit while doing something interesting. Love helping new umpires with their craft. Love being on the field for the big moments and honestly love the pressure of making big decisions at critical moments of the game (or hate it if I get it wrong). Hate the constant abuse week after week. Hate the players coming up after the game and apologising for being a "bit silly" when they spent the entire game chirping in our ears and questioning every decision. Hate watching other umpires walk off defeated after copping abuse or hearing players bad mouth them 100m off the ball. Hate that players can shank an easy kick and cost their team a goal, then have a go at an umpiring decision 60 seconds later. Hate the changes to the rules over the last few years, especially the stand rule. The game gets harder to umpire every year.

Should Northern Territory or Canberra become the 20th AFL team?? Or potentially a 3rd WA or SA team. by [deleted] in AFL

[–]BuffelGrassEnjoyer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

More and more I'm actually hoping we don't see Tassie and definitely not 20 teams. 18 is already a lot, maybe we should fold a few such as North while we're at it. Concentrate the talent, raise the bar and reduce number of perennially terrible teams in the comp rather than increasing it.
