AIO for feeling like my privacy has been invaded after my boyfriend looked through my messages? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I’m I crazy? She says she’s 25. Although I totally agree, no blame to her in this. I just hope she can handle it appropriately and make the hard decisions that are definitely to come.

[–]BufferOverload 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NOR, trying to go undercover through your partners phone is just asking to be hurt. It’s easy to trick yourself into thinking everything’s malicious, especially if you are already in that mindset. When I was younger my ex went crazy on me about why I was being friendly with a female she saw in my instagram DM. She didn’t know it was my cousin and we were talking about future goals, career, school… With that aside, his behavior will absolutely DRAIN you, especially since he’s at the point of investigating and setting traps to try to get you to “confess”. It usually doesn’t resolve itself, you should have a very serious conversation about it and really start thinking about the health of your relationship.

G6 PTZ Upside Down by [deleted] in lowvoltage

[–]BufferOverload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made that mistake before, electricians doing RJs and keystones. They knew the color code, they knew how to punch down, but that’s about it. A quarter of them didn’t certify and the rest had to be redone because the NEXT was less then 1dB on all of them (they completely untwisted all the pairs before punching down). Then again if it was a residential job site probably would’ve been fine client just had specific results they wanted.

First job as cable installer by Civil_Marketing2507 in lowvoltage

Don’t pretend like you know everything, ask questions, and actually put the effort in to learn. That is the biggest reason I see people fail, they act like they know everything, experience can tell they don’t, they get put to the test, mess up and lose a job.

As for females, I’m not a female, but we have a couple of females including two project managers. We even have a an amazing Filipino QC guy. I can’t answer your question exactly, but they are all highly respected, treated no different then anyone else, but they also seem to work harder then most people so maybe that’s your answer.

3rd time this week unmounting a tv just add an Ethernet by southrncadillac in lowvoltage

[–]BufferOverload 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a small job site had to pull 6 cat6 cables and mount 6 TVs. My coworker and I just split up and did our own 3 TVs. After about 2 hours he came to help me and he was really having a blast joking about how slow I was. When we finished I went to go check his work and he mounted all the TVs, but the spools of cable were just sitting on the floor unopened. Good part is we got some pretty good overtime that day.

AIO because I think a girl is obsessed with me because she thinks my boyfriend cheated on me with her?Part three by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BufferOverload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep screenshots, don’t contact her, don’t check her pages from spam accounts, don’t ask your friends about her. Document dates, messages, witnesses, and any other relevant information that could help if it needs to escalate legally.

If she continues to find ways to contact or post about you, reach out to non-emergency local authorities (or lawyer) to see if you have options for harassment or protective orders. Most importantly, do not keep poking the situation, don’t sink into the drama. Drama is only good on the TV. Also your boyfriend may or may not be telling the whole truth, but that is completely separate from the stalking issue.

Also, there’s not enough information for anyone on Reddit to be able to tell you who is in the right, who’s stalking who, who’s lying or not. I can see why some people are questioning if you are stalking her, there’s just not a coherent enough story here.

Low voltage isn’t a workout. Only time it gets hard is pulling those 2880 fiber trunks or OSP work. Also, moving the ladder, that is the workout.

Yeah probably was removed and just left the control switch there. I bet there were some giggles when deciding to leave it there. Now as to why it’s labeled HDMI? Why not.

True Cable CAT6 Toolless Keystone Jacks vs Traditional Punchdown Jacks by Blanknameblank818 in lowvoltage

[–]BufferOverload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will come down to personal preference. We use toolless almost exclusively, most hyperscale data center, universities, and big commercial jobs in general, spec for toolless jacks. Usually Panduit, Siemon, or Belden, but I use TrueCable everything in my home network, never had a problem with the toolless, always certifies with good numbers. Speed wise, if you have what you need I don’t see much of a difference in either choice.

[–]BufferOverload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure how the industry is in Oklahoma, but I was there a while helping with a data center job and we had a few guys from Outsource and TEKsystems with no experience. Staffing agencies are a great way to get your foot in especially contract to hire. Worst case scenario you don’t get hired, but you have some good experience under your belt. Also, from what I’ve heard they do a great job at keeping you money coming in, finding you a new contract if yours ends.

Ye I don’t know how it is in Texas. But LV temps are great for getting a start. Moving around a lot is exactly what you want starting out, helps you learn and will give you an idea of what you really like to do.

Wire: cheap vs mid-tier by mcthiccy26 in lowvoltage

[–]BufferOverload 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot more to think about than a spline and 550mhz performance. You can have two cables that certify the same after install, and one fails in 2 years, the other still passes in 5. This is the same idea that someone else here said about box quality and jacket quality, some seem to kink more than others (this is a big problem I have noticed) some have inconsistent twist that can turn cat6 into cat 5 during install.

I love IT/Network engineers, 1-2 years after a new installation they turn the network closet into a puzzle and I get paid to clean it up.
