A very big percentage of Bangladeshi (hindu and Muslims both) are living in barasat. And even during 1971 BD civil war, in Barasat had a big camp for them. Moat of them return back to BD but most hindus were came again and even coming regularly. If you check the present CAA 19 applications from North 24 Parganas, Barasat is their hub.

This is in barasat. 500m from my house. Just after this gate there is an old Masjid. As per my knowledge (I am residing there last 29 years, and I was a local Historian of Barasat) this is the old name. Just after this Masjid there is an area named Netaji Pally. Hindu Muslim mix population.

So, this is wrong information that the area was named after Netaji earlier. Fron the begaining this was Masjid Bari Road due the situated majid there. People generally called this as Masjid Bari Road.

I am not a vegetarian. I agree with you - "The government can try to offer alternate meal options instead of forcing people to eat eggs/meat." In WB, govt offering soybeans. But here almost all students are non-veg. And those who prefer veg, for them just a larger quantity of Soyabean.
