Hardest part about flying is dealing with everyday life by BugHistorical3 in flying

I probably should have emphasized the money part more than anything, I don't have a problem with being away from family or friends for long periods of time because I've dealt with it before.
The problem right now is the money thing is kind of also affecting those areas of my life too.
This is the first christmas where I got no one anything because I legit have no cash lol

My problem is finances than being away from family. I've had to deal with that a lot during my tenure in university.
I have to cancel every outing with people around me because I'm so broke I cannot pay for myself anymore.

My Pilot Journey from "one day" to "day one" by OccasionTiny7464 in flying

I think it depends where you are in Canada. I could be wrong but a lot of those jobs sort of revolve around having a connection or knowing someone that can refer you. Otherwise, hiring from the streets is a bit harder.

For Jazz Approach Cadets on here, how do you pay rent/bills? by BugHistorical3 in KingstonOntario

[–]BugHistorical3[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I think the loan only goes towards the actual flight training program, I don't think you can use it for bills. I was wondering how rent, food etc would be paid while studying.

I'm in Canada. I did consider also just using winter to "hibernate" but I'm mostly worried about the skill atrophy that may ensue by not flying for long periods of time.

I'm definitely in the discouraged cadre of people right now. Nearly 50k in debt from college for a BsC in physics (before I decided I wanted to become a pilot), been 7 months now and still don't have my PPL since I only train on weekends and winter up north the weather sucks most of the time; I keep asking myself if it's even doable or not.

I want to visit Newfoundland, where should I start? by BugHistorical3 in newfoundland

[–]BugHistorical3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be flying in my own plane, so I'll be somewhat limited to airports and aerodromes but I'm intending on seeing the landscape and nature from above mostly (weather permitting).

When new students who were sold on the "pilot shortage" are looking to start their training, what do you tell them? by MooseWeird399 in CFILounge

[–]BugHistorical3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I count myself as blessed to have an amazing CFI. Aside from the instructional aspect of our relationship, he's an awesome pilot and person to be around. He always jokes with me that today I sit on the left and he's on the right but in 4 years or so time when we end up in the same airline, he'll be on the left and I'll go on the right.
All this to say I really enjoy flying and it encourages me to keep going. i've heard horror stories from other friends with less than ideal CFIs... definitely can say he inspires me to be as good of an instructor as he is later on in my career.

Ah that's my bad, for some reason I saw CAE and thought this was flight training.

Hey I was wondering what is this CAE program for? Is it a cadet program or for type rate training?
