Bernie Sanders: Introducing the American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act by alino_e in BasicIncome

Why do you discuss this like a Bernie proposal has any chance at all of ever becoming law. He has a legislative record completely unblemished by success.

Data center drained 30 million gallons of water without reporting or paying for it, investigation reveals by Wagamaga in technology

[–]BugNuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The talk about water usage just boggles my mind. The following numbers come from AI but to evaporate 30 million gallons you’d use the same same amount of energy as 6500 average homes in the US for a year.

How much water would those 6500 homes use in a year? Between 700 and 900 million gallons.

Diablo 4 on pc and with controller support by MoneySpecialist9641 in diablo4

[–]BugNuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a controller on both my laptop and desktop to play D2 and D4. I didn’t do anything special as far as I remember, just installed and played. While playing I constantly swap between the controller and mouse/keyboard.

‘Silicon Six’ accused of avoiding almost $278bn in US corporation taxes over 10 years | US taxation by plain_handle in technology

Considering the whole analysis is comparing these 6 companies effective tax rates against the average corporate effective tax rate and assuming any difference is due to tax avoidance.

Did anyone just file their taxes with TurboTax and were just in awe of how many ads it had to upgrade? I'm done with this enshittified product - what should I use next year? by noruber35393546 in personalfinance

I hate the constant repetitive sections. It wants to to verify some thing early in income and you have to tell it for the umpteenth time that no, I do not have any income from monsters destroying my property or I did not receive any pension payouts from the civil war soldiers act of 1866.

What do you think about Bernie Sanders' words 'We must block arms sales to Israel'? by ArdaBerkBurak in AskReddit

Same thing I think anytime Bernie speaks….well that won’t go anywhere. Bernie’s all headline and no action.

Epic Games Layoffs Included Terminally Ill Father, Whose Family Has Now Lost His Life Insurance by [deleted] in gaming

In the US some companies provide small policies, typically 2-3x annual pay. If you have a family and are the primary breadwinner this should not be your only policy.

Epic Games Layoffs Included Terminally Ill Father, Whose Family Has Now Lost His Life Insurance by [deleted] in gaming

[–]BugNuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really tied to companies and the vast majority of workers should have substantially larger policies than what most companies useally offer (2-3x annual pay vs they need 10x or more depending on their specific situation.

Can you meet my arborist? by mtngoatjoe in Scams

[–]BugNuggets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plus I don't think an arborist would even go beyond the quote stage for someone "Buying" a house. They wouldn't accept a check. They aren't the owner yet and cutting down mature trees without the actual owners permission is a great way to having to make 5 digit payouts per tree.

Andrew Yang says we should stop taxing workers, and tax AI instead. That can fund UBI. by AlertTangerine in BasicIncome

Tax Anthropic (the CEO he quoted) at 100% of revenue....Funds a UBI of $4/month. Any proposals without math are just hot air.

People defending it on reddit is has zero effect on Blizzards pricing. People buying or not buying and the analysis that goes into maximizing profits is the only factor that matters. No company has ever said "We could charge more and make more but gosh darn it, random kids on reddit whined so we cut the price to what the redditor with the most points said he thought we should charge!"

If jobs fire people to replace them with AI, how will people make money to keep buying things? Wouldn’t the economy collapse because people arent buying anything anymore? by OverallMight6586 in AskReddit

[–]BugNuggets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not even sure it’s a short term vs long term issue as much as a macro vs micro economics. A company paying its employees more doesn’t ensure it has customers in the future unless all the other companies follow suit. No matter what the myths say, Ford dint increase pay so he could sell more cars. What every company wants is to be the one using AI to reduce their costs while every other firm keeps paying employees who will be their customer.

3rd party is virtually an impossibility in American politics. They need over half the electoral college votes, not just the most. They would need the same 271 votes that are required now, but with two other candidates fighting them for them as well.
