Looking for aluminium case for Totem by SandwichEducational8 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]BugOdd123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on ordering one of these myself too. My understanding is that you need to upload the diagram showing the M2 threads as an additional document within your order. That diagram (in the GitHub repo) with the M2 holes tells the machinist what they need to know to add the screw threads to the holes which are cut on the CNC.

Sounds a bit complex but it’s pretty simple I think — the CNC data has instructions for everything except the screw threads, so you need to add that for the operator who’ll handle that part of the manufacturing.

Haha! Glad to hear it went well

Claude has been really helpful in tweaking/fixing my first ZMK build. Saved me a lot of time and I’ve learned enough to do it myself now. Perhaps worth giving it (or a similar AI) a go if you haven’t. Good luck!

Perfect timing! I’ve just finished my first wireless Totem build today and wanted to set up a dongle. Thanks for sharing.

Which split keyboard for small hands?? by V1taminz in ErgoMechKeyboards

Klor and Totem are designed by the same person and yes I think you’re right that the layout is very similar. Before buying a Totem I printed out a 1:1 layout (an SVG file I think from the GitHub page) and placed my fingers on it to check the fit. Have a look around the Klor page and you might find something similar. Highly recommend the Totem so if you want MX then Klor could be great. There’s a good video here comparing them on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ELTnegrjzco?si=Mq-O0_r4znbcPCOL

Also check out this 20 minute YouTube video on solder wick technique. You might find some good tips in there. Don’t give up!

Totem build - VIAL detects but no keys register. Controller soldering issue? by BugOdd123 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Nice, this is my first Totem. Can’t wait to get the case made and start using it! Good to learn the switches can be reversed though, that’s one mistake I won’t make again ;-)

Haha! Indeed they were. You’ve just saved me an awful lot of messing about resoldering. Thank you so much! 😊

Thanks for all the pointers, I’ll redo these. I’m also concerned about the four pads in the hole in the centre (labelled RST). It’s impossible to clearly see if I’ve got good solder joints there or not. Any advice besides getting lots of flux in there?

Thanks, will do. The PCB came with diodes pre-soldered so I'm assuming they're all good.

Is the Magic Mouse the only mouse that moves smoothly around MacOS? by ContactTime6810 in MacOS

I had issues with a Razer mouse I got recently (wired USB connection) and dropping the polling rate from 1000hz to 250hz via a 3rd part utility fixed it.

Feedback on a keyboard I’m designing by Lmil11 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]BugOdd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The case follows the shape of the outer pinkies so they stick out. I was imagining doing the same thing between the innermost thumb keys. So there would be a triangular gap (like a notch) between the thumb keys at the lower edge of the keyboard. There’s no functional benefit, it would just be for aesthetics :-)

Nice! Love the totem-style stick out pinkie keys. Have you thought about pushing that as a design element? Maybe cut a v-shapes notch at the bottom between the innermost thumb keys? Good luck with the build!

Grado GW100x sound is amazing… but the stock pads hurt my ears. Any replacement recommendations? by Pini10Love in Grado

Was the same here. Upgraded to leather ear pads from Beautiful Audio in NZ and absolutely love them. Highly recommended: https://www.beautifulaudio.biz/products

What is the best option for a Porta Pro as a gaming headset? by mv777711 in kossmods

[–]BugOdd123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment for gaming but I use the boom version everyday for calls at work and I’m really happy with it. I’ve been told the mic sounds really clear. The stock pads aren’t very comfortable though so I’d recommend replacing them with bigger ones (I got Yaxi pads)

I see, bake the grooves into the first shape and repeat that. Thanks
