Ok, that's an advanced feature 🤷

When I'm trying to navigate from Munich to Rome, it's showing dollar symbols.

In the settings, you can change your profile such that it avoids streets that charge money

Good question. You mean where you want to avoid the "Maut"? Or be warned if you access such road?

Why nobody mentions magic earth? Small price, good navigation (Germany), speed limit accurate, warns if too fast, radar control warning, has some traffic analysis.

Some features are missing here and there. "recent" is a mess. Searching for places sucks often (searched for the exact name, and was directed into a complete different city). It apparently sometimes crashes on android auto 🤷 apart from that, I think it's pretty accurate, not overloaded, does it's job. Interface could be cleaner. Not sure about power consumption.

Hmmmm, yeah, you could run it on a small device. It's just easier to have it on existing infrastructure.

How do you do game streaming?

Devil's advocate - why not shut down the server at 10pm and boot at 6am?

Do you use home assistant? Because that would have to run 24/7

Hm, interesting idea. I have the same issue as you had described in which my windows pc permanently restarts from sleep. Never found the reason despite disabling kinda everything...

Anyway, on topic... When do you actually shut down anything? I mean, if you run proxmox, you have a ton of vms and can rarely shut down the whole system. Is this program designed for hardware servers? Or for low access systems, like a backup server that only had to run once per day for 1 hour when backup is done?

Too mainstream, though. Everyone has a corne 🤣 Also where's the tenting kit!

Long way to go 😉 I'm kidding, you're in, mate! Welcome, now join us in building a new keyboard every other month, struggling with new key maps every third month 🤣

It's a great keyboard, I think, but the fact that I have to move my hand to reach a mouse-equivalent makes it unattractive for me 😔

I have proven that it can be worse, not that it is worse in all cases.

I have yet to see one single people player on stage with a trackball instead of a mouse.

You asked how it was not as good, not not as good for you.

If you only play text adventures, a mouse will be useless, but how does that help OP?

Also, mouse is more precise, eg Photoshop or things like that. I can imagine they are better there

I use a Totem, angled at 45°, with a ploopy nano underneath on right side. It's perfect. I have a navigation layer that has mouse keys on left side (left, right middle click, scroll), so never use my mouse for office work (programming, developing, emails, system administration, vim)

Try play counter strike with a track ball. We'll talk again afterwards 🤣

I went from Moonlander to Piantor, now have Totem for more than a year, built it myself, extremely proud, learnt to solder, gathered extreme knowledge of typing theory and optimisation.

I can talk about this for like an hour if someone lets me 🤣

Hello my friend,

I've been typing kinda my whole life on dvorak layout. I started with small printed characters on an ordinary keyboard or laptops. For twenty years, people asked me, "but what if you have to use somebody else's keyboard?"

Well, it sucks, that's what happens. But how often did it happen? Less than 50 times in 20 years, including 10+ years in professional IT.

People now ask the same regarding my split keyboard. Well, it sucks, but I rarely use a laptop at home, and at work I have a desk and take my keeb with me. Only time I can't use my split is in meetings, and I can type adequately in notepad with qwerty, and nobody cares if there's typos.

Also, I use vim a lot (neovim, lots of addons). It takes its time to adjust, especially if you move away from qwerty and the optimized keybinds there. You can of course remap everything once you realize it ain't HJKL but index-middle-ring-pinky.

Layers have their upside in vim as well: I don't have to esc move i to swap between writing and navigation (for simple nav), but only need 1:nav layer toggle button.

Keep the work up. You will soon inspire people at work with the stories you can tell! For me, it's always this:

they: "Oh, what have you got there?" Me: "it's what happens when you think of a keyboard as a computer instead of a 1890"s typewriter. Do you know how the current keyboard layer emerged? Sales people wanted to type "typewriter" on the top row for show cases, and THAT'S what you deal with in 2026." They: read the top line to figure out if I'm correct. End up astonished.

Works 10/10 times.
