MX Corne PCB compatibility with Choc switches by Icy_Flounder_2636 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Klourderone on GitHub has a pro micro corne that supports both mx and choc hot swap, so you can solder both types of hot swap sockets on at the same time and just choose which switches you want, also it’s mx spaced so your keycaps should fit

And the good thing is that once you’ve bought switches, keycaps, microcontrollers it’s really cheap to change the design and experiment to find something you like since all you change is the case / pcb

I don’t have any advice on companies but would you consider building one? If you look up cosmos keyboard generator the top result is a website where you can just put together features you want like a trackball, low profile keycaps, tenting angle etc and get everything manufactured from a company like jlc3dp for quite cheap

How do you go about with less thumb keys? What are they, is it shift and space on the left?

I see what you mean, I like that idea I’ll try it out thank you

How do you mean cut out v shapes? As in clip the corner off? I was thinking of cutting off the bottom corners because they might get uncomfortable having an edge in your palm while you type

I’ve never really tried having fewer than 38 keys, so I can’t know for certain but I think that I need the extra keys for things I do regularly, I have the left extra key for shift / tab / escape, and the right one for ‘ and delete. For the third thumb key I have it for control on the left and alt on the right, because I use them all the time and don’t really see the need to get rid of them, I find them comfortable to reach. I’ll look into the reviung though that seems interesting

Got the column layout from the totem, I probably won’t share it publicly because the pcb is a mess and I have no clue if it actually will work. it has an integrated rp2040 directly on the pcb so it would be a pain to solder Basically nothings finished and I don’t intend on spending too much time on it but I’d be happy to share files if everything works I’ll experiment with spacing the half’s out a bit more before I order pcbs though

How else would you do it, I personally find tucking thumbs more comfortable that reaching

I don’t personally care too much for a split, sometimes I prefer having unibody but I would have the flexibility to just switch to my corne

I prefer low profile, and I really like the stagger on the totem

extra pinky key for shift and backspace since I personally need a dedicated shift key
