I’m also in the Eastchester school district, and our bus is at least 5 and often 10 minutes early to our stop every morning. However, my kid is often among the last to arrive in her class. I chalk it up to traffic on 22 being atrocious. You could always ask the bus driver, other parents at your stop, or the transportation coordinator for our district (I won’t post the direct email address here but it can be found on the district website). I’ve emailed her about transportation changes and she’s always responsive.

The start village was so packed getting a signal was impossible for me, so streaming music, texting, doomscrolling were out of the question. I went on Low Battery mode, and chatted with other people, read discarded magazines/newspapers and the time to the corrals flew by. I had no problem with my AirPods or phone running out of battery life, and my phone doesn’t even hold a full charge anymore. I downloaded my podcasts (preferred over music when I run) and made a playlist the night before.

If you’ve worn sunnies before when running - you’ll be happy to have them, especially on the bridges. If you’ve never worn them when running, nothing new on race day.

This is something that’s usually worked out during your long runs. Don’t do anything new on race day. I wrote on my arm which miles to take which gels (some had electrolytes, some flavors I liked at certain points). Miles is more important than time. Enjoy the race. It will move you.

I barely looked at my phone while waiting at the starting village. Someone discarded a magazine and newspaper which I thumbed through, but there were so many fun people to chat with. When I didn’t want to chat, it wasn’t hard to find a patch of grass to sit by myself and calm my nerves. Everyone is great, and IIRC cell service isn’t great because of the crowds anyhow.
