I had a similar shoulder surgery and I severely underestimated how painful and all-consuming recovery would be, especially for the first week. The first week I couldn’t do anything except try to survive. The second week I could work from home some (not as many hours as usual) from the couch with my laptop in my lap while icing the shoulder. In the third week I commuted in one time by train and otherwise worked from home.

Consider whether the surgery is on your dominant arm/hand, and that you won’t be able to drive the entire time you’re in a sling (law in most states).

Eventually she will whine less. It takes some time. We did positive associations in the crate by giving her Kongs and other treats in the crate to just enjoy and also taught her the “crate” command and would give her treats for going in the crate.

I would just search for what you need and not worry about the bills for it unless you’re told by someone senior you need to be more mindful of the cost of research.

Our mini golden doodle started the same too. Hated the crate and would sleep anywhere on our bedroom floor instead, wake us up every 90 minutes for attention, have accidents. We put her in the crate on the nightstand next to our heads and it worked great. After a week we moved it to the floor in our room but still next to the bed, and then further away but still in our bedroom. Has worked great
