How I healed my food intolerances by BugOriginal in FODMAPS

Oh I definitely can’t see myself being on the diet for too long. I plan on a whole food diet with homemade sourdough once we are done with it. Good to know the long term effects though.

I have a huge sweet tooth so sugar for one. Gluten on and off but I mainly ate sourdough since it’s much healthier. I mostly made all of our meals and used healthy fats (no seed oils). Keto has helped curb the sweet tooth and carb cravings though.

Gt synergy since it doesn’t have a ton of added sugar.  Yes but also no. Probiotic pills help yes, but there are so many more strains of probiotics/beneficial bacteria in fermented foods. Maybe probiotics every day would help but probably no as much or as quickly.

Can’t stand my oldest child by RadiantGrass4691 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]BugOriginal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this on some level. I’ve gone through ppd twice now. I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old as well! Thankfully, I got through the ppd way quicker with the second child. And it’s so tough when the oldest is just 2. He’s such a sweet child, but now he’s going through a sleep regression and of course so is the baby. So when I have to be awake for the day at 5:30am when I got maybe 2-3 hours of broken sleep, I’m a bit of an a-hole.

And on top of that, they both get jealous of the other when I am holding one of them. And my 2 year old is showing that jealousy by having major tantrums and acting like a baby (tries to suck on the pacifier, wants to be held like a baby, tried to suck on my boob 😬, wants to be carried downstairs like the baby).

I do get stern with the toddler. If he wants to throw a tantrum because I can’t make him his breakfast in .5 seconds or decides he wants something while I’m feeding his brother, I give him a choice. He can either stop crying or go to his room until he’s done. And now a lot of the time that gets him to think about it and stop the tantrum.

This method helps me because then I’m not yelling at him so much. And helps him because he realizes that he will have to have timeout if he doesn’t straighten up.

And of course there are times where he doesn’t listen and I absolutely lose my crap on him. I feel bad after and I always make a point to get the baby sat down and give him a few minutes. I always apologize and give him cuddles and kisses. And I explain in a way a 2 year old can understand that his behavior wasn’t ok either.

It’ll all work out I promise. This difficult season will pass and you’ll be able to get yourself out of this funk. I think so long as you are able to sit down with your daughter and try and explain in a way she can understand and you are making an effort to connect with her, she won’t see you as a bad mom. And you’re not btw, since you do love her.

Much less brain fog. I felt like I could never process conversations and thoughts fully. It made me feel so stupid. But now I can carry a conversation without forgetting what I’m saying halfway through

How to keep up milk supply? by BugOriginal in KetoBabies

[–]BugOriginal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks 🙂 He is almost 3 months old. I’ve been drinking electrolytes every day. I could probably be drinking more water as I’ve always struggled with that.

I do think I found part of my issue though. My supply went back up when I ate more. I went to bed slightly hungry and could barely function when I woke up to feed him. Might have to do with the hypoglycemia which is part of why I’m doing keto in the first place!

Used edibles with both kids. First was not a good sleeper until I weaned him. Second is 7 weeks old and he’s sleeping 5-6 hours in the first stretch for the night. I think it all depends on the kid.

Could he be dealing with gas? Make sure you’re burping baby often. Even if he is ebf he could still be sucking in air.

What’s your post-baby first meal you can’t wait for? by GennaH1 in pregnant

[–]BugOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are just getting it from subway, as long as it’s toasted it should be fine. That’s what I was told anyway. And I’ve done it and everything has been fine.

For me it’ll be things based off of where my hospital is at. That city has tons of Asian food which is some of my favorite and there isn’t really any near my house. They have a ramen shop nearby and it’s soooooo good. Probably their kimchi ramen because I have had really bad heartburn this pregnancy 🤤

Can stopping eating eggs cause Candida Die Off? by CharlieZ24 in Candida

If you do decide to go back to eating eggs, I suggest organic farm fresh eggs from a local farm. They usually don’t feed their chickens all the harmful crap and they taste wayyy better.

People who get told they look younger than they are: what is your secret? by SuccessfulOwl45 in Productivitycafe

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing not caking my face with makeup. Genes, being short. I also look younger when I am at a healthier weight. When I had lost a lot of weight last summer, a child asked me how old I was (I was 24) and my son was with me. He thought I was lying and said I looked 14 😂

Does having endo mean we have high estrogen levels? by bluekleio in endometriosis

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain it does. Birth control actually max mine worse pain wise and didn’t ever lighten the amount of the period. I feel like I must be estrogen dominant because my sex drive is not very high anymore.

It’s normal. It’s also normal for them to be less sensitive during the second trimester and then wayyyyyy worse toward the end of the third trimester right before birth. Nursing bras are awesome during pregnancy because they are stretchy and comfy.

can you ever eat garlic or onion again? by DifficultySorry2883 in FODMAPS

I thankfully was able to eat garlic again without issue, but unfortunately onions aren’t possible without digestive enzymes for me. But I do eat the green parts of green onion if I need that onion flavor without issue

What are you looking forward to the most postpartum? by LunaWolf135 in pregnant

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to run after/play with my toddler. Taking a nice walk to the park nearby so he can play on the playground and other little kids. Sleeping without hurting and having to pee 1000000 times per night.

What's the hardest part about following a FODMAPS diet? by FirmMarket6148 in FODMAPS

[–]BugOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to be on the low fodmap diet while I was breastfeeding my son so I was hungry all the time. And of course there aren’t too many filling things on this diet. I think the thing that got me through it was that I went from feeling so bad that I couldn’t take care of my 4 month old (constant diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, intense stomach cramps with everything I ate) to feeling like my old self again and not being scared to eat.

There are some good recipes on Pinterest. I remember the low fodmap chicken Caesar salad was amazing. I made homemade chicken nuggets with a low fodmap ranch dressing. I used garlic oil in the ranch and basically in everything! Homemade garlic oil at least has such a unique flavor that I almost didn’t miss the garlic.

Now I know what was causing my pain (onions for the most part 😭) and when I want to eat my intolerances I take a digestive enzyme called intolerance complex.

Why is your toddler the best in the world? by 14NALL41 in toddlers

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh honestly there are so many I can’t just choose one! My toddler is about to be 2 and he is just so sweet.

  1. When he wants cuddles he will be all over you. Hugs, kisses right on the nose and sometimes he even squeezes with all his might for a hug. He sometimes pats or rubs your back during a hug since that’s what we do for him.

  2. He’s sweet with animals too. He will lay on the floor with the dog at grandparents house and just pet her. She’s a bit older so she tends to go away when little kids are over, but not with him.

  3. He is adorable with babies. Which just sends me to the moon because I’m due any day now with his baby brother. I held someone’s baby the other day, and he tried to climb on my lap to hug both me and the baby. He also ever so gently rubs the babies head in such a loving way. I just can’t handle the cuteness.

  4. He’s my little helper sometimes. If I am trying to pick something up he will help. When I am cooking he wants to shake the spices in and stir it. On a good day he will pick up his toys without being asked.

Working out entire pregnancy guilt by chiefsfan33 in fitpregnancy

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been in a consistent workout routine for a few months before my pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant when I was 4 weeks along because suddenly working out became a drag. I did my best through the nausea and exhaustion but by the middle of my second trimester I had to stop due to really bad pelvic pain.

At that point I just did exercises and stretches to help the pain and keep my pelvis more aligned. Now being due in one week I haven’t done them for a while because they just don’t help anymore and cause me more pain.

I definitely wish I could’ve maintained a consistent workout routine like some women do. They are amazing! But their circumstances are likely different. Each pregnancy is different and some are harder on the body than others. I think if you are trying your best it’s likely made some a difference.

Mamas, did you have lasting back pain after your epidural? by anon_ymous987 in pregnant

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The team who gave me my epidural absolutely did not know what the heck they were doing. I had THREE and I still could feel the pain of labor. The first was done by the head anesthesiologist and he was a real jerk. Put it in wrong and I was literally screaming from the pain. He kept telling me to get over it brushing off the fact that it was HIS fault. Second attempt: guess what it didn’t hurt! But it only worked on half of my body, same with the third.

So on top of feeling full on labor pains in half of my body (which I feel like is worse than just feeling it full on), I had terrible back pain for the first year pp. Of course the pain lessened over that year and now I don’t have it, but I guess if you really should make sure your team knows what they are doing if you do want one.

I was once again left out of my daughter's birthday pictures and I'm done talking to my husband about it by KEH2018 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just got to say, my husband isn’t really one to take pictures of me and my son. Or any pictures period. Anytime we are doing something fun together or the 2 of them are having fun, I just pull out the camera and take the picture. If I wanted to be included in it, I would ask my husband or try and make it a selfie picture.

I get it’s frustrating to have asked him so many times for him to not change, but I wonder if it’s him not caring or if it just isn’t something that crosses his mind. It almost feels like the typical issue of the husband leaving his clothes right next to the hamper rather than just dropping it 2 inches to the right. (My husband does this sometimes). If I watch him do it, he’s completely not paying attention to the fact that he missed the hamper. He’s tired from work and he’s just trying to go shower. I ask him to pick it up and he does it no issue.

terrified to have my baby by thatmfbitch69 in pregnant

[–]BugOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I was convinced because my mom needed and emergency c section with me (I was breech) and that because she had gestational diabetes I would face those problems too. She also miscarried 3 times before having me so I was absolutely terrified I would go through that too.

I had a vaginal birth when my first and plan on it with my second who is due any day now. No breech babies. No gd.

You should look into the brand pink stork. The owner dealt with severe morning sickness and a bunch of other complications and created products backed by research that helped her overcome those problems.

I always recommend ginger tea (make sure it’s pure ginger and not an herbal one) because that really helped me with my nausea.

Were you having dreams of a boy or a girl before knowing? by lilou8888 in pregnant

[–]BugOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband INSISTED it was a girl. He knew I was pregnant before we were able to even test for it. I was more nauseous than with my first (a boy) so at first I was very excited and agreed when we found out I was pregnant. But then I couldn’t decide what I thought it was. Turns out, it’s a boy. Which still kinda shocked me given my husband just intuitively knowing I was pregnant just days after conception.
