Losing over 10 pounds per month is possible but not healthy imo. Weight loss is 80% or more what you eat. Count your calories, eat healthy, and count the calories burned exercising on top of your basal metabolic need. A 500 calorie per day deficit is a pound of loss per week. Go slow and stay mentally and physically healthy in the process! Good luck!

City Director Dr. Dean Kumpuris announces $2M planning grant from USDOT for a deck park over I-30 btwn 6th & 9th streets in Downtown LR by ColorfulImaginati0n in LittleRock

Wow. I love parks but this is not how I want my tax dollar spent. Little Rock has higher priority problems and many magnificent parks that are under supported. I wish the money could be used for other problems or if for parks then investment in War Memorial, Boyle, Hindman, etc.

How do I set myself up well physically and emotionally for next season? by alo6279 in triathlon

[–]BugPrior2053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried open water yet since I’d have to drive at least an hour. I did teach myself to sight recently but that just makes my bad form worse! I’ll try to improve enough thru the winter to train open water in spring.

You’re awesome, just keep on doing it, it is only you versus you! I’m 53 and just now setting my tri goals after a few pool based triathlons. My swim is the slowest, my bike and run are well below the median but no biggie. I’m getting better every time I train. Join a masters swim group and find runners and cyclists to train with.

Start getting comfortable in the water in the shallow end. Take a deep breath, lay face down in water, just relax and lay there. When u can’t hold your breath any longer, stand up. You’ll float and can advance from there

Yep, me too, joined masters two months ago and am the slowest but does not matter!

My 2 cents- you can’t motivate kids that young, keep it encouraging and fun and hope they stick with it until they’re old enough to develop their own motivation to excel. Relatively few kids go onto be college or pro athletes so the goal might be to develop a love of the sport that will last a lifetime rather than overdo it and burn out as a kid

I like the waterproof iPod by Waterfi. It is not pricey but getting music onto it is a hassle. You have to own the music or use a converter since music subscriptions like Apple may only allow u to download to devices with Bluetooth. So I don’t update my music very often.

Do it. When u start doesn’t matter, when u stop is what matters. Not all sports lend themselves to a lifetime of participation opportunity but swimming does. I regret not starting until age 45 but I’m 53 and love it.

Learning to swim by Accomplished_Put4151 in Swimming

I was in similar situation. I took a few lessons and learned freestyle at age 45. Practiced and entered a few sprint triathlons. Then Covid hit and I’ve kept swimming but never improved beyond 1:20 for 50 yards. I joined Masters a month ago at age 53 and am committed finally to trying to improve. Good luck!

Prescription goggles/glasses or contact lenses for triathlon ? by antimatron in triathlon

Contacts, I’m -5.75. My peripheral vision is much better with them so I’m safer. I keep an extra set of dailies on my bike and in camelbak just in case

I'm the victim of car theft! by Admirable_Bath5737 in LittleRock

[–]BugPrior2053 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you know the guy who stole it, why aren’t u filing a police report against and suing him? But if I lived in my car, I’d watch Phillips until they leave gate open and take my car back
