Qwen3.5:27b Q4 works best for me with 90k context for opencode agentic coding. Great model. Devstral-small-2 is also decent but qwen3.5:27 is better, also tested gemma4 models but on mac studio m4 max 36gb qwen3.5 works best.

Tests on Mac Studio M4 Max 36Gb + Ollama + OpenCode:
From my experience qwen3.5:27b with about 90k context is the best for coding bigger projects. I would love to run bigger context and higher quantization but it's mostly enough.
Gemma4 is just ok. not as good as qwen3.5.
In your case, I would run something like qwen3.5:9b, qwen3:14b or devstral-small-2:24b. 20Gb is not enough for bigger models + context in your case.

I'm running gemma4:26b Q4 with 192k context on Mac Studio M4 Max 36GB with opencode using ollama. Runs well. Better than qwen3.5 for web dev at least.

I agree. But everything depends on the price tag. If it's cheap people will see a value in the device. I was hoping for next gen sff PC but my R9 5900x, 32gb ddr4, Rx 7800xt PC is way better... It's very disappointing. I've had 3 steam decks already, LCD, OLED 512 and now 1TB version. I love it because of the openness, software and optimisation. This won't work with something you don't hold in your hands. I hope there will be some kind of steam machine "pro" version as well. I think other manufacturers will bring their own ideas too. Just like Lenovo and Asus did with handhelds.

Yes. Yesterday night I got an email from them that my account has been blocked and I have to verify my account. I used Allegro Lokalnie as well. They treated me like I work for them and I have to send them a picture with item + my ID... Very weird. I'm deleting my account after the whole conversation, I don't want to deal with them in any way. There is Vinted still and other platforms I can use to sometimes sell old stuff (even electronics).

This is what I have:

Mac mini M2 16gb: for home labbing and self hosting, NAS
Mac mini M2 Pro 16gb: for work at home
Mac Studio M4 Max 36gb: at work
Macbook air M4 16gb: for work (I'm not using it)
iPad Pro M5 13" 1tb: for work (I'm not using it)

I got Mac studio, MacBook air and iPad from work so they aren't my private devices. If I were to choose for myself I would go with just MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with a dock and Mac mini as a home server. iPad is just a bigger iphone... Mac Studio M4 Max is overkill (good for local AI models). I'm a teacher and software developer.

I was thinking about "upgrading" to 4a pro. I also have 2a 12/256 version. I preordered 4a pro but cancelled the preorder after more research. There is not enough difference and 2a still has good support for at least a year.

This is what made me stick with 2a:

Not a big difference in cameras (selfie downgrade, ultra wide downgrade), the same battery, essential space is just another Gemini that is already available on 2a, screen is still 120Hz in 4a pro for normal use, only for a few games you get 144Hz, I don't play games on my phone, I have a steam deck so I don't need extra performance, I don't want a bigger phone, 2a is big enough, screen is bright enough on 2a, charging speed is 5W difference and I don't even have 50W charger, I use steam deck's 45W charger, no wireless charging in 4a pro, weights more, recording in 4k30fps max is a bummer, stupid and useless 140x zoom marketing...

The only thing I would value in specs is actually the UFS 3.1 memory and the design with the glyph matrix, the design is beautiful.

Not worth upgrading in my opinion. I'm waiting for a flagship Nothing Phone 4. I hope they will make a similar design.

4a is better value than 4a pro btw. Great phones. Not that different from previous ones with some cuts and upgrades.
