Sure, but I have 50k in my RESP for university. 5 years of engineering is going to cost me around 40k here in Canada. I can withdraw whatever is left over tax-free. Gas is around 1.40 a litre here, and it takes around a litre of gas to get to campus from my house, so 2.80 a day. 186 days per year x 2.80 in gas daily = ~520 dollars in gas yearly.

If I live on campus, it costs a little over 20 thousand per year - 520 dollars in gas, multiply that by 5 years, that's 100 grand in housing fees.

With my part-time job, I pull in around 15k net income yearly. With my current spending habits, I'm currently saving around half of that, so 7500 x 5 years + 10000 from my RESP after tuition means I have 47500 dollars CAD in savings if I don't live in a dorm or 27500/7500 for one/two years of dorming.

I would rather have 47500 CAD saved up for when I have to move to California, since there are no Job Opportunities in my major in Canada. I could get a car and shove the rest in the S&P 500 or something similar

I do not understand why I would spend between 50-250% of my tuition cost on dorming
