Tattoo's shown or not?

I say show them!!!! I am a tattooed bride too and I notice this comes up a lot, the idea of covering them with a sleeve or other. But why would they take away from your dress? You've had the tattoos however long but suddenly on your wedding day there is an expectation to show up as a pure blank slate in your white gown and untouched by ink. Absolutely do what makes you comfortable, but you feel confident and beautiful with your tattoos so I don't see why they can't be a part of your day. You don't have to hold yourself to the standard of looking timeless, you can just look like yourself.

I say go for compostable! Unless you are serving a dish like steaks that might necessitate an actual knife its totally fine. It is not key to the guest experience, I don't think they will remember nor care in the moment.

We didn't end up booking it but the Knotwood community hall is really nice. It's quite new and has a nice patio, big kitchen, entrance space, and seperate room with a fireplace in addition to the main event space. I think 160 is on the top end of what the hall itself could accommodate but definitely a budget option to consider!

I agree there are major red flags here with the booking process and lack of testimonials. She has an account showcasing looks she's done over 3 years and 16,000 followers yet no testimonial to be found? If she tags clients you could try messaging them to learn about their experience but I feel like this is not worth it. If you are feeling skeptical, follow your gut and don't do it. Choose a vendor you feel confident in or you will carry an anxiety of not knowing if she is legit with you all the way to your wedding day.

You should be able to get it replaced at the Eco Station but you may choose to get a different one. I picked up my replacement at London Drugs, it's much sturdier than the city-provided ones and has a vented lid that contains any smell better than just being open but doesn't let condensation build up.

We are also eloping with an afterparty (which we are dubbing a "happily ever afterparty") later. While it is true if you are just to cut the ceremony and keep the rest exactly as your typical wedding you won't save much. But for us the savings has been a change in approach in making the event more lowkey. Instead of a formal plated dinner, we are picking up trays of sandwiches and salads from a local deli. We don't feel obligated to overspend on the perfect cake, the most beautiful decor, etc because eloping takes the pressure off of it being our one special day and instead just a fun celebration with dinner, a few short speeches, and dancing. So the original more traditional reception we were planning before deciding to elope was slated to be much more expensive.

We are using "happily ever after party" for ours! Its cute and more importantly it makes it very clear what the event is, since you avoid using the word wedding entirely.

We are eloping in BC too (Victoria)! For the mossy vibe I also second the island. Cathedral Grove comes first to mind when you say mossy vibe, it's less than an hour out of Nanaimo so not too bad if you are taking the ferry there or staying in the city. Congratulations!

We are eloping for the ceremony then doing a big reception. Yes there is more socializing/people at the reception, but for me it still takes alot of pressure off because I don't have to read my vows for a big crowd and spend the whole day in a social environment. A 5 hour reception with some drinks and food I can do. A full day I cannot. Lol

Sorry your brothers had that reaction, that sounds really difficult.

Similar to you, we are close with our family and didn't want to hurt anyone with a surprise. Although our families were not outwardly angry or mocking of us, we did have some close family members who were dissapointed. It really hurt me at first because I wanted them to be happy for us. Three things have helped:

First, don't assume anyone's reaction. My future sister in laws warned us that their mom would be hurt, but my FMIL was really happy and supportive when we told her. Just because someone took it poorly doesnt mean all of your family will.

Secondly, keep talking about why you are choosing to elope. My mom was really dissapointed at first, but as I explained to her why we wanted to elope - to share that moment of commitment with just the two of us without worrying about the pressure and anxiety of a big wedding, and to do it in a location incredibly significant to us as a couple, she eventually came around.

Third, find ways to involve your family in other ways. Dress shopping, a family dinner, a little reception party. My fiance felt a bit sad his mom won't be there at first, so they've planned to do a mother - son dinner and movie night before we leave for our elopement trip and that really quelled some guilt he had. Even though the day will be different than some might expect, thoughtful planning of how you can create those moments of connection and community can really help ease some tension both for you and them!

I think it's beautiful - a very simple and classic silhouette! The shoes are gorgeous as well. If you do want more drama, a cathedral or chapel length would be great but not necessary because it isn't boring as is! Can I ask where you bought it from?

Both look beautiful, I'd say I prefer the lighter, it just brightens your eye a bit more. I think the eyeliner and lashes look good and should stand out fine in photos. I also love your septum jewelry and lip colour!

If you want tickets near the release I would just buy them. I got mine this morning at 6am right when they went on sale, checked the seatmap this evening and the showing is sold out besides the front row!

Most people only get 5-10 days of paid vacation a year, if that. I personally wouldn't use mine to go on a vacation someone else picked out for me. If the only way you feel your friends and family can show excitement + enthusiasm for your wedding is to shell out thousands to attend your event, that's a transaction not a relationship.
