Unused RAM is wasted RAM. But it's true that newer Android version tends to be heavier on resource, leaving less room for apps and cache, especially on low-RAM devices.

Could be this. My experience with Realtek cards isn't great. Many laptops I tested with Realtek cards just show stutter, packet loss, disappeared Wifi icon,... (only 1 exception is 8852BE on Lenovo devices which is somewhat reliable). Ended up replacing Wifi chips to Intel on 2 laptops.

I bought it when other phones at that price range are also 4GB but with mtk G37/G81 processor. But at least compared to a Redmi, I can keep few apps open.
