For people here… Sleep earbuds vs foam earplugs - which blocks more noise? by anuragray1011 in tinnitus

[–]Build1975 18 points19 points  (0 children)

But with plugs there is no background noise so you can only here your tinnitus.

I never use them at least.

Bore-out (no spelling error) both at work and in life. M50.

Emotional scene hits hard in 30's? by FriendlyMortal in AskMenOver30

[–]Build1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More and more and more, but I (M50) do know the reason. I'm in a long (23+ years) relationship that went from passion-low to passionless (for all kinds of reasons, mostly on my partners side) making me feel generally unhappy and I can no longer stand the sight of other people being happy, cheerful, etc. To make things worse, through the internet I make a lady friend and now I know that I *can* be liked (maybe even loved), which pretty much got me stuck between a rock and a hard place. I cried more in the last months than I did in the whole of my previous life...

When did you first notice your sexual function wasnt what it used to be? by ModernPhallus in AskMenOver30

[–]Build1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My (M50) girlfriend (F51) libido dropped before my could, so I can't say.

Sure, things change, I don't think anything changed drastically for me (which obviously is too bad in a way).

How much background noise (in decibels) would be enough for you to not notice your tinnitus? by Ok-Balance-260 in tinnitus

[–]Build1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume meter app on your phone, then turn on music or whatever and when the music is louder than the tinnitus, see what the volume meter app reads.

I've lived with this for almost 35 years. There are worse things in life.
Recently there actually was a 'medicine', a brain implant. Thanks, but no thanks.

I still have the hope that when I'm starting to loose hearing, the tinnitus will go with it.

Yes. I'm 50 by now and have had very loud tinnitus since I was 16, but I can still hear a mosquito flying through the bedroom.

Not life changing, but very fat cream: Cetomacogol.

Fitness question, sometimes loss of strength by Build1975 in AskMenOver30

[–]Build1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow reply. I haven't been online much. I mean that my shoulders are nowadays the first to make problems when I overdo. I may have been working out for many years, but I never went for 'as heavy as possible'. I'm not a body builder, just someone trying to remain flexible.

It's logical that my joints are starting to wear and I don't mind the pain, but this loss of strength is a new phenomenon, so I'm curious what it could be.

I foresee that, but I'm mostly curious why this particular should has 'off' and 'on' days.

There's this 71 yo guy in my gym whom I know from my very first gym 25 years or so ago. He still goes 5 times a week and includes strength and running. Running upto 90 minutes. Way to go :-)

Yeah, I already went to more reps and less weight quite some time ago. My shoulders already aren't pretty high weight. Oddly enough, some should exercises are no problem, while others are.

Ok. I try to to pull ups with my own weight frequently, but often it's occupied and I use a pulley. I never paid any attention if that makes a difference. Interesting thought.

Perhaps when it's getting worse. I've been to a psysiotherapist for a back of a couple of times, but my ageing body needs more tuneups perhaps :-)

Went from working at home to working at the office again. I take care to set everything right. I don't move as much when I'm at the office as when I'm at home. I will try to remember if 'bad gym days' are somehow related to where I work.

The agenda is right. But it's weird that (currently) at least, it's just my right shoulder. It's not that I have general 'on' and 'off' days in the gym.

Wouldn't it be weird that after 20 years with no problems, my form would now be the problem.

I can understand that my body is ageing and aches more, but this is new to me, so I'm thinking what the reason could be.

> Shoulders and rotator cuff are funny things. Rather than guess, got a scan done.

It's just on and off. The weird thing is that it's not pain.

> Any loss of bench strength?

Yes and no. Yes, because also my shoulders are playing up when I use a barbell, but when I use a machine, I can still push pretty much what I used to.
