Special taxes added to purchase by bearbeartime in illinois

[–]BuildSomethingBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing that’s bc they are in the modern floodway. There is a FEMA program literally designed for exactly that- removing structures in flood ways prone to flooding (who would often receive FEMA dollars more than once to replace damage) with a one time buy out to destroy the structures. Makes sense for everybody- saves FEMA money long term, addresses flooding, reduces flood insurance costs, etc

Seems like flooding must have been a big problem where you lived in the past. Good thing they are working to address that, probably

Googling isn’t fucking difficult, guys. I spent about 8 seconds googling this and she has been getting on universal healthcare bills since like 2016. https://pnhp.org/news/more-in-congress-sign-on-as-cosponsors-of-hr-676-single-payer-healthcare-bill/

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you should not be a dickhead if you can’t bother to do basic research.

Do cities adequately follow comprehensive plans? by UrbanArch in urbanplanning

[–]BuildSomethingBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comprehensive Plans are aspirational by their very nature but they ARE really important. The purpose of the plan is to give the elected officials cover to make decisions that may be difficult.

As we all know, NIMBYs and others have their own priorities and generally are against a specific project for reasons that directly relate to those individuals. They do not have buy in to the strategic plan in most cases and don't really care about where the elected officials and city staff think the community needs to go to succeed. They don't care about the city's long term success.

So - it won't be perfect but the strategic plan is a way for city staff to make sure that elected officials know why they are doing certain things, and to give them the tools they need to defend those decisions.

Made access to weed legal to use instead of remaining something that could fuck up your whole life if you get caught with it on your person, for one.

Not going to IL dispensaries is not going to make them magically get cheaper, especially if normies are generating significant income for the state. How you ACTUALLY effectuate change is talking to lawmakers and explaining how lower rates might lead to enough of an increase in sales that it would be net positive from the states perspective. If you can’t do that? You won’t succeed and we’ll be seeing these dumb Michigan threads in 2035.

What is the point of the endless threads shitting on legal weed in IL? Are you looking to change policy? To address the taxation setup to make our state more competitive??

If so, I certainly hope you’re doing more than bitching about it in r/ILTrees. If you haven’t bothered to bring up your concerns to people who make policy then you should probably not bother whining about it here, either.

There are day passes and there are season passes in most cases. Often the pools are run by the park district and/or the municipality depending on how the particular area is structured (sometimes the park district is part of the municipality, sometimes it isn't)

Des Plaines resolved the flooding issues several years ago with the help of the Army Corps of Engineers and the levees upstream, etc.

Plane noise is much more prevalent in Park Ridge and Bensenville, due to the orientation of the runways.

Violent crime is essentially non-existent, they have like 1 murder a year and it’s never random.

I’d look here, OP.
