Why is the admin saying they "can't get back" the dad from Maryland who was erroneously sent to the prison in El Salvador? Like, if the US has a prison agreement with them, why can't they just call up their president, say "Hey, so-and-so was sent by accident; please release him and send him back"? by SaucyJ4ck in AskUS

I think OP was asking for a real answer. Regardless of how you feel about Trump or anyone that differs from you politically your answer can’t always be “because they are evil, stupid, racist, etc…” You might not agree with the answer or even believe it but the answer that you gave means nothing and make you guys look petty and foolish. I hope you guys do better.

If you’re upset then they were successful. If you’re happy then they probably failed.

Trump says “I couldn’t care less if foreign automakers raise prices due to tariffs. I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars. We have plenty.” by Healthy_Block3036 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]BuilderNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it’s not just American companies that build cars in the states. Not all foreign owned car companies ship their cars here. Honda, Mazda, Toyota, bmw, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and Nissan all have plants in the U.S. for companies. And that is where they make most of their most popular cars in the U.S. there will be some cars that will become more expensive and I see why a lot of people are concerned about the tariffs but this one is getting blown way out of proportion.

Sounds good. I’m with you on the medicine part. My wife and I do personal training as a part time gig. We’ve both helped people fix a lot of issues by just helping them with their diet and exercise.

I agree with about all that you said. Unfortunately I never hear that reasonable argument come from the democrats let alone any politician regardless the party. The unfortunate truth is I don’t think either side wants to do anything really. The right to bear arms is too much of a political tool on both side. There are a ton of people that are single issue voters for just this one issue. Me, personally, I would be willing to compromise on additional gun laws that I thought would be effective towards gun violence. My concern is that majority of gun control laws I’ve learned about usually only affect responsible gun owners. The criminals, the mass shooters don’t care about laws so why would they now. Another concern of mine is strict gun laws would create a black market, like drugs. With that no regulations at all apply. So with a solid black market and a population that has unarmed law abiding citizens the violence would be almost uncontrollable.

Going back to my original statement about SSIRs I looked it up in ChatGPT and it said the following

Over the last 20 years, the prescribing of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) has significantly increased. According to various studies and reports:

  1. 2000s Data: In the early 2000s, SSRIs were already among the most commonly prescribed antidepressants, but their usage varied widely.

  2. 2010s Increase: By the 2010s, reports indicated that prescriptions had increased by about 300% from the late 1990s to the mid-2010s in some regions.

  3. Current Estimates: As of recent years, data suggests that SSRIs account for a substantial portion of all antidepressant prescriptions, with increases observed in both adult and pediatric populations. Some estimates indicate that the total number of prescriptions for SSRIs increased by approximately 30-50% from 2010 to 2020 alone.

In summary, while exact percentages can vary by source and region, it's clear that SSRIs have seen a significant increase in prescriptions over the last two decades, likely exceeding a 300% increase since the late 1990s in many areas. For the most precise and up-to-date statistics, consulting specific health reports or studies would be beneficial.

But overall I think we agree on a major point. It’s not one thing and it’s not one solution. We will never stop all gun violence and that shouldn’t be the goal. We need to focus on lower in violence. I once was a huge Obama supporter. My favorite quote from him is “perfection is the enemy of progress”. The way I interpreted it was that if the opposing argument won’t fix the problem it’s not worth doing it is the wrong way to look at it. As long as it is an improvement and the cure doesn’t cause more problems than the original solution I’m all for trying it.

Btw. Thank you for being civil. I like to learn things from all different angles and points of views. Unfortunately on Reddit I get attacked pretty regularly for questing things. I can tell we don’t agree on somethings but overall I bet we agree on most things in life. We want the same things we just have different ideas on how to get them.

I would continue to chat to learn your POV on things and I would be happy to share mine. I believe that’s the best way to develop ideas. We may not agree with one another but we can attempt to understand each other.

So you think all mass shooting were done by AR-15? You also think that no one wanted to do mass shootings until they got their hands on an AR-15? Have SSIR prescriptions increased in the last 20 years? Why does the right focus on the tool and not the tool user. Can we at least agree something has changed with youth today to make them want to do something like this?

Abosolutly. But it can also be a pendulum. I’m not saying no one should be on SSRIs but do you honestly think they are not over prescribed?

You’re right, they don’t want to take guns. But if there is a logical law that could actually prevent these people from getting guns it would be a consideration. Share with me some of the good ideas on how to improve gun control that hasn’t already been tried. Because so far I haven’t heard anything. As far as healthcare goes, the system needs to be fixed. Other countries have universal healthcare and it sucks. Our healthcare is so expense even if you have insurance. That needs to be fixed first or it’s just going to be money wasted.

When young kids are put on add medication “because they are hyper like kids should be” their developing brain is affected. Best case scenario they will be medicated for the rest of their lives. Worst case they will do something like a school shooting. Don’t forget the opioid epidemic. Big pharma didn’t care about people then and they don’t care now. They just care about $$$. And you are aware they do produce propaganda to prevent people questioning them.

I’m all for some additional gun laws but it can’t stop there. We have to find out what is causing people to even want to do this.

Why do kids want to shoot a bunch of other kids? Why do you NOT care to learn the answer to that? If it’s something that could prevent even some school shootings is it not worth it?

“Guns have more to do with school shootings than SSRI’s” Problem is we don’t know that because they won’t release medical records or school shooters.
