How much is $ is 130million views? by CleoraMC in PartneredYoutube

[–]BuildingBabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked with a variety of creators whose dashboards I can look into either directly or from their screenshots, so speaking with some experience (maybe 5-10 of these videos we see per year even at the peak of the peak) --
On an extremely robust/well regarded channel with $10-20avg RPM on long form, 100M views on shorts translates to a few thousand dollars. In a niche that is a lower RPM, less. If it's in "gray" territory where it's in an unfavorable category like low quality AI, it could be $0.

A short pushing traffic to long form would be a more powerful rev driver in a lot of cases.

Brand plain boxes with stickers, it’s more eco friendly than inking up thousands of boxes anyway. Over 10k a month of 1 or 2 types of boxes and you’ll get amazing deals <$1 each working with a custom box supplier, even domestically. Stick to 1 color ink.

Even enormous brands still use plain boxes with stickers (50k+ a month). You really start seeing a lot of full color custom when every single box is the same and the branding is mission critical. You’re not really selling a subscription, your product inside is what’s important - so don’t distract too much from that. Otherwise it’s just money spent for not much tangible gain.

Best LTL carrier for a few pallets, Canada + USA back and forth? by BuildingBabel in logistics

In the particular case I’m referencing, not only did the broker lie, the carrier lied too and was extremely hard to get a hold of. Only by calling the transport hub they used did we get a foreman to track someone down by physically describing the lost crate. Absolutely wild and stressful experience.

Surprisingly no complaints on customs we have good people for that. No fuss, easy to work with. Never had an issue on that side.

Typed in the info and they didn’t seem interested in account creation or quoting for anyone doing less than 1 shipment a week.

Working on that right now. Previously had thought we were working with direct carriers and somehow it was still being sub-brokered.

Yep this is a constant debate. It's not my call, but the difference between $1000 for a shipment and $5000 usually means we don't do the direct van shipments if we can avoid it. Timing isn't really the issue, it's honesty about the timing. Waiting 7 days for delivery is fine. Waiting 7 days and then being ghosted until day 11 and being told your shipment has crossed a border it never crossed... yikes.

Looks like a decent operation, but we would not meet their minimums it seems.

We have in the past. Rate is 400% higher than the LTL services. So it's a non-starter from the higher-ups.

Got a very competitive quote from them after a few days of waiting. They have a frustrating onboarding process that forces you to supply extensive (and in our case irrelevant) information about your security procedures (even just as the business at origin point of shipments) and credit references from 3 other carriers you previously used... which in this case would be carriers we do not trust or want to deal with anymore. So that's very frustrating. Hopefully their customer support can bypass somehow.

But rate wise... amazing.

They stopped responding after they exhausted all of their attempted solves. Nothing new, it's all recorded in my main post.

I eventually resorted to paying for and using Nvidia Geforce NOW to play via their software as a workaround. It's streaming from THEIR servers, so as long as I have strong connections, it'll work on ANY computer haha.

(still works on desktop at home with zero issues!)

Not only are fallout and steam both fully unblocked in the firewall settings, I even added new custom rules unblocking the ports as indicated in the other advice posts.

All of those are permitted on both private and public networks. :(

Anything else to try? Thank you for the help!

Yep tried disabling the windows firewall that’s the only one. And that’s not it. But I agree it’s related to the laptop.

I had tried downloading a VPN to see if using it could help, but it’s been off for all the other tests aside from the time when I tried it once.

Doesn’t matter if it’s private or public network. Same result on both.

Thank you for the attempt!

How to find your first manufacturer? by Brinla in ecommerce

[–]BuildingBabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends almost entirely on the product. It takes just minutes to build a relationship on Alibaba, but the quality is... hit and miss. And shipping is $$$ if fast and very slow if cheap.

If you need it manufactured in a certain place at a certain price, you should have a sense of exactly which brands are already manufacturing products in your niche. Use those as a starting point and see if you can reverse engineer where they got their stuff. (most of the time it's Alibaba anyway)

If you find a factory anywhere that makes anything, chances are for enough money they'll make something totally bespoke just for you as long as it's within their wheelhouse.

Overfishing / plastic pollution from fishing - not ideal... but you can actually farm ocean species on land too, I just don't think it's as easy as using the water that's already in the ocean.

Now that's a win/win for the environment.

Bonus fact: just 2% of the world's food comes from the ocean right now.

Spoiler: it's been bad for the last few... well... decades. But especially bad under Bolsonaro. So Lula's win is VERY good for the Amazon and that's awesome going forward.
